MemberHere is my January entry:
I played it at about 75% speed and managed to hit all the backbeats except for measures 21 and 22; I always missed those. I wish I had had more time this month to work on the timing, but it was still fun to learn how to add backbeats in a song.January 3, 2019 at 6:16 pm in reply to: Participate in the January 2019 Member Challenge – You Decide What To Work On! #22043zukulele
MemberExecution: This month I’m going to practice adding a backbeat to a song. I’ve learned several Rock Class songs that had a backbeat but have always skipped that part.
Application: I’m not sure which song to choose yet, but probably an easier level 1 or 2 song to begin with.
Evaluation: I’ve practiced the backbeat a little bit, but it’s tricky to get the timing correct. I’ll probably practice 2-3 measures at a time until they sound right.

MemberThank you Andrew for everything you and the other instructors have taught us this year. You’re an awesome teacher – I have learned so much from RC101.
The main thing I would like to learn in 2019 is how to compose fingerpicking duets. Strumming and picking sound very nice, but it’s really cool to watch when two people fingerpick a song.
It would also be fun to learn songs that used a looper. I’ve been practicing but it’s tricky to get the timing right.
Thank you again for all the great lessons! Looking forward to the reading course!zukulele
MemberI never felt comfortable putting a hole in my uke, so I attached these stick-on hooks instead. They’ve worked really well and I have found it makes switching straps easier. Hope this helps. https://smile.amazon.com/Command-Hooks-Value-18-Hooks-17006CLR-18ES/dp/B0084M67P8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1545576979&sr=8-5&keywords=command+hooks+small+clear

MemberI also made a quick recording of The First Noel on a tenor uke – didn’t know if using the baritone’s tuning was allowed for the contest.

I used a baritone ukulele for this recording – I thought it would sound really nice with Katie’s arrangement.

It almost doesn’t seem right to learn this song on an ukulele – ukes sound too happy.

MemberThis stick-on pickup might work Becky: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZYH4RRN/ref=ox_sc_act_title_6?smid=A2LYZALPA8A4PN&psc=1
It has great ratings and is very inexpensive. I’m going to try it soon because I didn’t want to drill a hole in my uke.October 26, 2018 at 3:25 pm in reply to: Participate in the November 2018 Member Challenge – WIN Skype Lesson w/ Taimane! #19474zukulele
