MemberThe double prize is awesome! I’m really excited about the upcoming low G lessons. Quick question: Do I have to include the vocal part of Moon for it to count towards the challenge, or can I just keep playing?

MemberThanks Andrew – this is cool!
My two questions are:
Does the amount of gloss/finish on a uke affect the tone?
How does the shape or position of the sound hole affect the sound? Is a sound hole with an image a bad idea?September 30, 2018 at 8:55 pm in reply to: Participate in the September 2018 Member Challenge – Fingerpicking Themed! #18793zukulele
MemberGlad I managed to squeeze this post in – it’s been a long day of studying for school.

MemberYou could also try putting a capo on the 5th fret of your baritone, then it will be tuned like a low G.

MemberHi Andrew,
Congratulations on your sponsorship! I think all the changes for the next 6 months are pretty good. I hope to learn more and compose duet lessons (especially some in the pop genre) and songs with a looper tutorial (I ended buying the Ditto you recommended). Some baritone lessons would be really nice too. Also, I really like the picking style you used in the songs like Perfect and A Thousand Years; you were able to play the words of the song and pluck the background music as well. I don’t know what it’s called but I would like to learn how to arrange pieces like that. Thanks!-

MemberHi Andrew, in the tutorial video you mentioned that you made an alternative piece because your soprano only went up to the 12th fret and the correct note was higher than that. It was the section right before the ending, where the song goes ‘I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again’, and it was the ‘a’ in ‘about’ that was higher than the soprano could go.

MemberI was unable to participate in the last two contests so I’m really glad that I had enough time to record my entry this week.

MemberI’ve been trying to teach my self triple picking with a thumb pick. Usually when I learn a technique I find a video of a simple song where it is being used so I can slowly imitate it. Unfortunately, the only videos I could find triple picking being used in are by the uke masters like Jake, Taimane, Honoka and Azita, and Aldrine; where they are going insanely fast and their fingers are flying across the fret board. Do you know of a song that uses this picking but is a little less fast on the fretting hand?
Thanks!zukulele
MemberThanks nocnyptak and Andrew! I’m leaning towards the ditto because of the video above – I’ll post a recording when I get one.
