becky7777ParticipantThank you. (But, sigh.)
Some of the 13th names near the end came up literally as “piano chords” in search even with “ukulele” in the search term. I got overly hopeful I could eliminate needing to investigate half the list of 49 options after seeing that. (Wishful thinking something would be easy, and bad searching on my part.)
One last question please, and I’ll stop. Trying to figure this thing out.
Those would all be ‘notes’ I want to try to hang out with most then if i’m trying to play over a D7 though correct? (and other scale notes, but that’s a whole nother thing..) Tonic sounds good over anything for obvious reasons. It’s strange it can disappear in a chord and still work. (to me.) I’ll get on studying that. It seems bizarre.
The rest listed would be considered ‘chord tones’ for the perspective listing then? If I were using them to solo? Or am I way off base?

becky7777Participant@nthibode – Good job! I was hearing what AJ was doing as vibrato, which on my fingers turns more into a weak mess.
Learned about the term “micro bends” from your feedback. Bouns. ๐ TY Andrew.
Still haven’t been able to memorize this arrangement.

becky7777ParticipantThis was a really excellent discussion and demo! (Thank you Matt on your playing background too.)
To kind of quote John Lowery: “Everyone’s fingers are different.”
Two points made me chuckle:
First was about Matt’s thumb nail being his strongest nail, as I look at both mine which keep breaking and my right hand thumb has about 4mm of exposed nail bed on the string side which isn’t too fun every month when it explodes.
(I should personally just suck it up and get good with a thumb pick at some point since the nail just keeps breaking before I can use it.) My thumb callus only has one sound, (currently hurts a lot too) and a thumb pick increases my overall playing volume and reach a little bit, but it has a distinct sound.
The second is just me laughing at myself.
Matt: very briefly says: “You can do this with your fingers too, but it’s harder.”
Me: thinks about what i’m trying to learn. “Of coarse it would be…”

becky7777ParticipantMaybe try naming it nonsense and unlist it?? Or just unlist?
becky7777ParticipantThank you Andrew. ๐
Part is my house hums really loud. (Other peoples fans and household electronic appliences I have no control over) household
I’ll keep messing around with it though.

becky7777Participant@Robin -Wow! I didn’t realize the song was based on a real place. That’s really cool.
@Ricky -if you do go to the site take a picture if it’s not a really scary place now. I might be able to ‘go there’ on google maps street view though. Have to check. ๐

becky7777ParticipantGads… I recorded this the same day I did Helen’s Theme. It’s not a performance, it’s me freaking out, doing something horrible with my mouth, really trying to play, then a sonicly loud helicopter came that the mic couldn’t register because of decibles or maybe bass range, so I feel even more nuts when the video can even hear me talk, then im all like ooo shiny!
I will all kinds of regret this, but no one told me the soundcloud picture of me playing in costume wouldn’t count.:(

becky7777ParticipantI’m doing the love song… (Sigh. ๐ Especially which one.. It’s a pretty arrangement but bet it’s gunna have repercussions on me..) Can’t do the strumming on House.. asked Daniel what I can do btw with strumming, and was told im basically kinda screwed… So yeah…
I don’t think I can pull off BR, or SCOM quite yet. Still have never managed to record 3 entries on one of these Kanile’a 3 month drawings lol. Maybe this time.
I have trouble with the very first chord in BR which really ticks me off… It feels like it wouldn’t be near impossible and hurt so much if I could just stick my stupid elbow out… Considering I really want to play BR, I’ll try to figure something out.. But it can’t happen in a month for me currently. (especially this month!) I’m super excited to hear whoever does those entries though!

becky7777ParticipantOh my goodness mfaske!! ROFLMAO!!!! My reptilian (air inflated?) Halloween brother. ๐๐๐ That made my night. Love how it just kind of envelopes the uke and the head flops down after you completely disappear sitting down.

becky7777ParticipantWow, I realized the bass string pluck is in the Jinn song. Bonus points for being really dumb sometimes. It’s close to the beginning in this btw so no need to listen far if it’s not your thing but it’s what I went on about up there…
Sorry for being an idiot…

becky7777ParticipantThanks @jina, (you’ve heard at least Stranger Things by me since you joined, probably Aloha Oe too btw.) Love the knife! ๐ Your Danse Macabre was awesome! Haven’t caught up on everyone’s submissions yet though.
I didn’t record If I Fell, because I hurt myself getting taken out in floodwaters. Only other challenges I didn’t record was doing Spanish Ukulele as my own challenge no one wanted me to share that, I asked, (don’t blame you guys, i’m still really bad, but I amused the mountain lion, so i’m not bad enough to be dinner!! ๐ ROFL!) right before the strumming one, and the single string Taxi thing I failed because.. inverted/over something jazz chords + a noob = noob learning I need intervals to hear… during the strumming one.)
Excited to catch up later!

Only up to date picture of myself I have in years and I look silly. Way it goes. ๐ Trick-or-Treat! & Happy Halloween! (I had 12 seconds to push the button and sit down and play for the picture so it’s the best I could do. lol)
My official one year playing ukulele happened on October 15. I think I improved.
This was the last take on a day I did like an hour worth of this song plus practice. I was kind of frustrated and over thinking the beginning but I had I slowed way down and was trying to just forget I was recording. (I play it faster than this usually but speed is whatever i’m in the mood for so it changes anyway.) Minor flubs but overall an okay take, pretty much representative of average-ish. Flubbed the second to last note and chopped out the swearing to keep it G rated lol. This has no effects or even editing really except I chopped out me strumming the first chord like 5 times in the beginning and the swearing and dialog at the end.
Oddly enough the soundcloud picture includes my costume head but it chops it off in the forum link. Anyway it’s supposed to be Spiro the dragon from Skylanders I guess. But whoever designed the snuggy costume just made it look like a really stoned purple dragon with candycorn wings in my opinion lol.

becky7777ParticipantThanks matt, kinda meant what is she doing to it though?
“Going all classical on it” doesn’t turn up many successful searches.
Keep in mind NOT asking anyone here to teach me any of this!!! Just need a term(s) to point me at what to look up. It’s backwards or something. (What she’s doing to it, not the picking.)
If no one knows, it’s all good. I spent months looking and can’t find it either. ๐

becky7777ParticipantAttempting to record today as long as nothing else goes wrong. (Fingers are crossed.)
Everyone’s done a fantastic job on their songs! (Loving the costumes too! You all have mine beat!)
becky7777ParticipantHigh Five Ricky! (Not familiar with what song it is though)
This is how I go completely insane by the way. I have been hitting those notes and go “oh yeah this.” then go figuring out something to some song and having 0 clue who did it, what the lyrics are, or even what decade it came from. (Try looking THAT up.)
After you have a bit of time from Sleepwalking, you should write down what you have of the notes though. So you don’t forget.
(Try looking up the chords on uke or guitar too. Then it’s just a matter of finding out how to play the chords on uke. Chances are they probably aren’t weird jazz chords right?)
