Andrew- You managed to guilt trip me into picado. Thought I wrote this but never sent it lol. I’ve been playing for a mountain lion who’s been interested in me practicing outside on the porch in the middle of the night in warmer weather. Sounds nuts but I really have not wanted to get eaten so I kind of got stuck in what it seems to like, has a catchy riff I came up with for it too lol! (Plus i’m still pretty happy where my picado is compared to hammer ons right now. I’ve been working on different tremolos from classical, so it seems kind of cheating-ish. -Not that I’m saying im good, because im so not saying I am… You get what I mean, I hope..)

I do get why you want picado there I think. I also was helped a lot when I went on the bar chord adventure you set up in the past over the months. (Really hated how much my hands hurt for months! But really needed bar chords lol. I appreciate the set up for that though. If I picked the right challenge songs I was able to get: First month had 2 strings, next had 3, next was 4, and your etudes around the same time, as well as older ones. Added to whatever I wanted to acomplish.) We got percussion and picado, some theory etudes comming, and mysterious epic songs…

I would have been on board with sound of silence probably, but I honestly didn’t want to try to convert it with two great low G options.

Anyway trying to stick as close to the arrangement as I mentally can now. This month is my 1 year. Should probably treat it more as a song anyway than an exercise in fumbling around trying to figure out how to go all classical on it. (That stuff they do) So I apologize. I needed reigning in. 💖

Jina- I have no idea what the real deal is with those giant expensive looking wool carpets but I have a wild guess?

    1) Cover cables so moving musicians don’t kill themselves by tripping on a million mic cables from the drums, amp cabinets, microphones, etc.

    2) Pretty sure every carpet I’ve seen has been wool (if they’re regular carpets). It will help with absorbing bouncy acoustics and floor vibrations from drum kits and amps or whatever. Tri Studios has them on the floor. Within the first 23 seconds of the video below, you can pretty much see the floor has a lot of them, if it isn’t completely covered, as the camera pans. (Really impressed with how he wrote this one, especially the lyrics.. and Rob.. Now Robert.. 💖 no words. 💖)

    3) I’d guess looks, and comfort, play in somewhere too. Nice plush carpet will be less tiring to stand on then concrete. Our two outdoor city stages are concrete locally by me. (Both are pretty nice spots actually.) The carpet looks kinda nomadic and “rich” to me, but that’s just me being weird hooking “traveling” people with beautiful carpets i’m sure lol.

    Here’s the #2 example though.

I am not sure what the story is with the Hawaii Sessions house though, never looked it up, but yes. I love that view too. 👍 (would have probably sent this to you in private message)

Friend left a little bit ago. Actually had a weird but successful sort-of jam with him. He has a baritone and I was playing low G. Found out I can only handle 2 chord songs right now but he was playing something by the Dead, couldn’t figure out what it was, but the refrain for fire on the mountain fit lol! The exciting part was I finally managed some Dead sounding solo-ish stuff. (Was completely garbage but hinted I was going for the Dead at least lol) That’s pretty huge considering I had no idea what I was doing, and was trying to just go with where I thought the note should be. Pretty high off that still.

So not ready for finishing Taxi, don’t know my stuff well enough yet to get those chords, which might be inversions?… and if they are, I am not there yet. Jazz, I swear to god…. I will be at intervals for a while though.

I haven’t recorded anything yet. There’s no rush. Might tonight if I can’t sleep. Might tomorrow. It’s just the basics above probably played a bit different. Still sounds kind of cool though, and that little keyboard lick or whatever is fun to play. I don’t have a few of his keyboard ornament things down. I don’t know how to go about them. Can’t get accurate enough to get the right tones im after for the different spots but still sounds good-ish to me.

So productive September I think, just not so much with my intended song.

I started learning Helen’s theme. I think you must have used every keyword that would get my attention on this one when it came out. I’m unfamiliar with the movie, but it’s interesting as a song, and hard to get to sound creepy actually lol.

(I do have a question.) Are you ok with using a hammer on type thing to get those notes smooth after the first chord? I tried picado there but it changed into this because it was the smoothest way I could get the recorder thing with taxi. I’ve been playing the beginning to ending 1, since a day after release. It’s going to be really hard to change back at this point actually. As a lesson on picado, I’ve already been working on that technique though. I was using the theme to get something different. I have no idea what i’m trying to do, but I am, focusing more on finger alternation on this one though, just not right in that spot. I have to ask because it’s kind of a big change.

The end was awesome btw 👍😁 Hope your producer recovered lol. The other thing might require a photo on a soundcloud entry.

edited to add: casual Bee movie reference on helens theme. lol. Moved past that one super smooth btw.

Lynda- I have never used the info inside the video, but it looks like Youtube just threw out some brand new changes. When the channel owner replies to a comment it’s showing up as “channel name replied to a comment.” I don’t remember seeing that a couple days ago. It had just shown there were replies. (Now “prepatch day” is stuck in my head… Man i’m a nerd. LOL!)

Wow! Nice Lisa! Congrats! 😁 I’ve not been to a uke fest, but I can relate to the finding “my people” thing.💖 Super congrats on winning that soprano too!

Holly- Would have private messaged this to you so sorry if i’m stepping on anyones toes here in the forum. Your dad’s ukulele sounds great. I wouldn’t think adding a button would be a huge deal. Stew Mac has some great buttons btw. I got an ebony one to match the ebony on my uke. I think they had some aged button finishes to match yellowed whites etc, and other pretty exotic woods if you want to get fancy with it. (It’s not something you ever really see though since mine’s black it’s not really showy, so did I need it? Not at ALL. But knowing it’s there is fun.)

If it were me, i’d call someplace like Elderly Instruments who restores all those things to get their opinion for peace of mind. (I haven’t dealt with elderly btw, but i’m impressed by their instrument restoration videos. Since they restore and sell, they’re the only people I can think of offhand that would know if a hole there would matter in a uke.)

    Note to self:

Write interval names into tab so I see the names. Might help me hook names with the sounds faster. – Maybe by just seeing them while im working a challenge, or whatever, will get me to remember the names. Can’t hurt. What i’m doing now isn’t working for me. (And still goes with the relate it to a song idea, but without pinning a name to one specific song which is so not going to happen in my head.)

Can split into whatever is there, and easy to label, or focus on certain ones till I can hook the darn names with the sound.

(Sigh. Memorizing names. The suck part of music, and anything. I don’t even use computer shortcut keys because who can remember that garbage!? Shouldn’t have to in theory but realize I have to. -Yep i’m whining. It’s justified. I’m just about as far as I can get though without naming stuff. Kept putting it off now theres a lot to freaking label)

Got sidetracked by really bad situations going on here haven’t had time to work super hard on taxi. Been using my free time to de-stress, so haven’t done much of anything that adds to stress. Least I’ve been busy with music in general. Counts for something, and the month isn’t over.

Month isn’t over. Changed my mind. Not working the warmup exercise with a metronome. I notice I played the warmup exercise one single time since I typed that, from playing it 2x a day. This is not the answer obviously. So, not working metronome on anything specific. Probably won’t work with a metronome at all the rest of this month. I’d rather not use a metronome then stop playing something that was helping me right now. 😭

You guys made me laugh when you did. 😁

    Peanut Gallery Criticism:
Great presence lynda, you having a blast automatically made me smile. Definitely take that to the uke fest! Your friend looks like shes having fun too but doesn’t want to jostle Squesh. 👍 Your interaction though was great. (My personal opinion at least. 😁)

Dumb question, what is Squesh? He’s so fluffy looking with the curly / dented looking fur. The cone makes it hard to tell. Hope he / she feels better btw.

One and a half meters eyes of blue ricky. Two really has a better ring with blue.😉

The only words I can think of that rhyme with meter already have a funny song of their own song already. lol. So our friends across the pond will just have to suffer singing in a measurement system that’s hard for them to probably visualize. 😁

Sorry about this. Friend figured it out, I asked for the chords so I might have a chance playing it with him later, and the texts are appearing in a thing I need to download and who knows where they go. Got to learn it and had nowhere to put it. I really hate android to do anything useful. Good song by chip taylor, but has nothing to do with the thread.
