Hi Andrew and friends, Attached is a song I wrote (lyrics and music) approximately 6 months into learning how to play the ukulele. I had put it off to the side and recently, due to this challenge I started working on a new arrangement for it. Here it is in its original form. Thank you.-

ParticipantThank you Steven for your feedback. Listening to my recording I hear the slight pause of sorts between measures 6&7. I’ll work on it today.

Participant@surrealflea: that was a nice playing / recording despite your injury!
I noticed that your uke is a Cynthia Lin creation. I have the same. Just wondering if you changed out the strings ‘cause it has a deeper tone than mine.
Thanks, MarionAugust 31, 2020 at 10:30 am in reply to: Participate in the August 2020 Member Challenge – Theme: Songs You Requested! #40629funtime2018

Here’s my submission of Harvest Moon. Need more focus on softening my attack on the strings. Measures 29 and 30 have me stumbling. Oh well, here’s my best recording of the song. All in all it was a fun song to learn and play.

ParticipantHi All, I’m thinking about buying an Outdoor Tenor. I’ve read about the action being high. High action and nut width larger than my preferred size is preventing the purchase. Any opinions on the action and nut width of this instrument? Thank you.

ParticipantHi!
I suggest Corcovado (Quiet Nights and Quiet Stars). It’s a beautifully flowing song.
Thanks for the consideration,

ParticipantThank you Andrew. In your feedback the video you suggested I review ‘producing a sweet, soft tone’ you mention another video that talks to playing to match what the song is about. There isn’t a link to it. Could you direct me to it?

Hello Andrew and Participants, Here’s my June submission of People Are Strange. This recording is not of my best playing of bars 22-26. Sometimes I hit the frets accurately other times well, you’ll hear what happens. All in all there were a number of lightbulbs moments for me while learning this song: string preferences, left hand fretting technique and the discipline of learning a song bar by bar. I can’t wait for the day when I hit the record button and my brain and fingers don’t freeze and the song plays musically.I’ve learned from you all by viewing and/or listening to your videos – thank you. Andrew, your feedback is invaluable. As always, the tutorial was well paced and detailed. Thank you, Marion

ParticipantEach of the song choices this month are above my skill level. With that said, I’ve chosen to spend the month getting into People Are Strange.
My low G uke is a Romero ST Concert.

Participant@sgwarren: great job on playing.super!
On the subject of recording… your post was quite humorous to me. I’m with you… I practice for hours, day after day. As soon as I hit record everything that my brain and muscle memory was taught is gone – just vanishes. Fingers can’t find the correct frets and my brain says ‘watch out this is a tricky measure’ Bam – I have to start over and over. I was thinking of making a blooper video out of all of the stops and starts.
Again, great job on the piece.May 15, 2020 at 10:30 am in reply to: Participate in the May 2020 Member Challenge – WIN a Kanile’a Tenor Ukulele! #37815funtime2018
ParticipantThank you! I played the song on my Pepe Romero Tiny Tenor with Romero strings. Actually, I don’t play this uke very often and it took quite a bit of effort to get comfortable with both the sound and feel of it. My playing this song needs polish and maybe I’ll give the performance version a try as well.
