@marianne and everyone else who has shown so much love and support, thank you. Regina was my person. There was no one else like her and I loved her as much as I could love anything. She passed away this morning. I was rubbing her back and her daughter was holding her hand when she took her last breath, and she was surrounded by loved ones. I am struggling right now, but if you can, priorities your thoughts and prayers to her children, especially Dlyan (named after Bob Dylan), her youngest child who is only 11. Thank you again to everyone and to Rockclass101 for supporting me and giving me this community to share this with. It’s truly special and it was Regina’s love of my learning new songs in rockclass101 that really kept me going.
Unfortunately I kinda failed my goal this month. Things have gone downhill very fast and I wasn’t able to perform for her while she was conscious and I haven’t had many opportunities to practice. I did my best and I hope she heard me. They say the hearing is the last to go. I love her very much, and I thank this community for all the support and allowing me to share this moment of vulnerability without judgement. Thank you all.

This month I have been working out of my comfort zone in order to finally sing and play at the same time. Something I have tried and always failed at. Just feel like it’s an impossibility to be frank lol. But regardless, that is my goal. As I mentioned in my last post it hasn’t been the best year, and in fact, the last 4 have been pretty rough. My best friend of the last 10 years was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer about 4 years back and this past year has been particularly rough for her. That said, she is religious and believes in prayers, and so if any of you out there could spare a prayer for Regina, I know she would be grateful.
That being said, she has always been my biggest supporter when learning and practicing the ukulele, and she has always wanted me to learn to sing and play, while never pressuring me.
Sorry for the long post! I will be learning “Just Breathe” by Pearl Jam1)Execution: I want to learn how to play a song while singing along from beginning to the end.
2)Application: I will in the future attempt to sing while playing other songs as well. I think working on this skill would be a power asset in my ukulele arsenal, if it weren’t for my lack luster singing voice lol. My goal is to be able to sing this song to Regina. 🙂
3) I will memorize the song lyrics and the ukulele fingering separately and slowly attempt to integrate the two muscle memories together.So first of all… thank you to everyone for all the congrats on winning…again! I REALLY wasn’t expecting that at all! This has been a particularly rough year for me, and so this was a truly wonderful surprise. However, I can’t help but feel guilty. There are so many of you out there who deserve to win also! So, for 2025 I want to be taken out of all the giveaways.

So I wanted to make an etude I already know sound different, so I decided to try and experiment with Etude #1, or at least I think its number 1 lol
@lucauka I thought your playing was beautiful and has inspired me to learn this tune and maybe submit as well this month!

@dianna thank you! I used OBS studio for recording the videos, and then used davinchi resolve for the editing. I did a google search for how to have two videos side by side and it’s fairly simple 🙂

I have wanted to tackle Game of Thrones since I joined, and I thought maybe I could take it on this month, but by the time I had practiced all the parts and working on the hard transitions, it was the end of the month and putting it all together is quite a challenge! I should likely have slowed way down, but I felt I made more mistakes when I did that lol. So anyways, lots of errors in this one, but I hope to go at it again in a future challenge!

I’ve been icing everyday and playing very little, but I might need to take more extreme measures. It’s a pretty big bummer and I also hope it goes back to normal! 🙂
Hi all! I haven’t been able to practice and play much because of my arm, but I just had to post this month! Although I picked the beginner friendly option, I found it to be quite a challenge as the swing really through me off. Had a lot of fun working on this piece though, so thank you! Of course everyone did amazing as always this month 🙂
Hello! I haven’t been posting much because of my elbow injury, hopefully I’ll be back into the swing of things soon, but I wanted to share this! Not exactly ukulele “art” but the signature is a form of art! But I had to share that I went and saw Jake Shimabukuro and I was able to meet him and get my ukulele signed!
