leb397Participant@Andrew, thank you, as always, for the encouragement. This “closet” uke player is full of doubt but I’ll keep chugging along.
Look forward to your new lesson on classical music.
So many great entries this month!!!

leb397ParticipantI really took a chance trying Etude 16 as a challenge this month. I struggled getting the rhythm of the pull-off bluegrass melody. (I blew it) You just have to “hear” it because replaying the lesson (100 times!), it’s not until you increase the speed that you start to understand. I didn’t get it right 🙁 and I wish I had the time to correct or relearn but this snowbird is flying south for a bit…
I used IMOVIE to upload the base rhythm separately… more technology.
I can’t say enough how important the Playback and Looping tools are for increasing speed and practice. I managed to nail the ending but couldn’t get a clean video entry with camera jitters.
Kudos to all the entries – lovely playing.
Thanks Andrew – another great challenge Louisa

leb397Participant@janaq1 very sweet. I can hear the influence of Christmas music it there too. Nicely played.

leb397ParticipantYowza! @jgillard soo good. Really enjoyed #16. I’m still plugging along. #3 was lovely too.
Back to practice 😉 Louisa
leb397Participant@the_bumble_bard excellent! Love classical on Uke. Totally get the fear of posting. Encouraging words are deserved.
I took a break with playing, babysitting, a bad cold. Excited about being back on track. Keeping up with all of you .. ha
Happy playing 🙂January 4, 2023 at 2:45 pm in reply to: Participate in the January 2023 Member Challenge: WIN Mainland Ukulele! #55534
leb397Participant@jbmills07 that was so pretty! I may have to switch… #16 will be hard to get to 75%

leb397Participant@deadbuggy you are making it look easy… nicely played. I have a long way to go with this one. A new challenge for sure. Louisa

Merry Christmas tooDecember 22, 2022 at 6:49 pm in reply to: Participate in the December 2022 Member Challenge – WIN $6,000 Kanile’a #55333
leb397Participant@lbilkie very nice Nutcracker entry and I listened to your Church Bells, love their sound – pretty.
Well everyone is wrapping it up and to those that submitted God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, I completely agree with the struggle – as I mentioned in my entry. It’s a great piece but was a real challenge.
I’ve said it before – This is a supportive site. So many talented entries.
Thank you @Andrew @Matt and @steven any all at RC101. What a great year.Good luck everyone. If you are in US – watch out for this weather!!!!
Happy Holidays

leb397ParticipantI LOVE this site. The joy it brings me and how I feel like a kid waiting for the next post, it’s the best. @yukalele you have made my day with your piece. I vote that you WIN ! Your special effects with the “green screen” was wonderful. What a great entry. Thank you for sharing. I agree with everything
@the_bumble_bard said. 🙂
@katazumiri your dreidel piece was great. I’m going to show my grandkids who just learned the song in kindergarten.
@abster you should be so proud, as well as your family. Great job.
@gi_gi_ chopstick was perfect. I think I started learning that a year or so ago but stopped… I’ll go back now.
I feel like Andrew with my comments but EVERYONE is doing so well. You all inspire me and I’m sure others. My list could go on but I’ll leave it to our leader @Andrew
Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate and Merry Christmas others.
leb397ParticipantOk ! You folks are the best and keep me smiling! I can’t wait go through all of this information. I’ve been flat out with December activities. BUT this is a 2023 goal for sure.
@surferjay you are so generous with your musical knowledge – thanks 😉 LouisaDecember 15, 2022 at 7:47 pm in reply to: December 13, 2022 – Live Lesson: 3 Ukulele Goals To Set For 2023 #55119
leb397ParticipantWow love seeing all these goals. I have a few but I will have to agree with @gi_gi_ to learn improvisation – I can’t do that at all yet. And @The_bumble_Bard, playing in front of people – yikes I just don’t have that confidence yet. This is why RC101 is so encouraging. The slightest positive response or even a like on YouTube makes me smile. And @surferjay your entries are awesome but winning the lottery would be nice and playing a uke all day in Hawaii sounds pretty amazing!
@camper your goals are perfect and I know you will be sharing a video of a song in the new year.
My 2 Cents on melody, I agree with @The_bumble_bard. If you have a group singing 3 part harmony – the lead would be the person singing the melody. I think that is correct???
Wish all of you Chatty Ukers a great holiday!!! 🙂December 15, 2022 at 6:29 pm in reply to: Participate in the December 2022 Member Challenge – WIN $6,000 Kanile’a #55116 -
