lisadmhParticipantWow, Jerry. It is stunning. What a cool project. It does not look like a do-it-yourself product, but a very professional one indeed. Congrats on building a beautiful uke. How does it sound? I can’t wait to hear it.

lisadmhParticipantThis was a very useful lesson. I encourage people to watch it. It will give me more structure to my practice routine and reassures me I’m on the right track. Thanks Matt.

lisadmhParticipantBianca, I’m using the C string version, as I like it better. What do you prefer?
And I will no doubt be doing a slower tempo. I always do. Because I prefer songs slow (lolol). How are you doing with memorization? I usually am good at that but this one is killing me with all the subtleties.Great job everyone. Amazing how you can post so fast and so well.

lisadmhParticipantI’m in for Wonderful Tonight.
Cute prize. Thanks for contributing, Nicky. Does it have to be a “person”? Can it be a uke and a cat? LOL
lisadmhParticipantHi Tom. Welcome! Don’t worry about tempo too much. Speed comes in time, or so they tell me, lol. I’m almost never up to speed, but I still enter and learn a lot. Slow and steady is better that fast and uneven. See ya around!

lisadmhParticipantThanks Stephen. Speed is my nemesis.
lisadmhParticipantHi Stuart. The third fret on the E string is equal to the open G string. So if you’re trying to play a high G song on a low G uke, you can build your G string melody notes on the E string, always up by three frets. Example: an open G becomes the 3rd fret of the E string, and a 2nd fret melody note on the G string could be substituted by the 5th fret on the E string. Does that make sense?
lisadmhParticipantThat is very cool and unique. What a fun collaboration. Thank you for sharing. I quite enjoyed it!
lisadmhParticipantHa, that was great. You seem fun. 😀 Thanks for sharing.

lisadmhParticipantHere’s my first attempt at a level 4 song. It is a mellow version (aka slow), and there are some missing notes here and there to help me with the transitions, but I think I captured the essence of it?
And for variety, here’s a version recorded a day earlier in just one more take. Much more relaxed, but slightly slower and rougher. The above is what happens to me when I’m trying to record for the site. Oodles of takes and all tense like. It’s a little faster though. I dunno.

lisadmhParticipantHi Pippin. Fluorocarbon strings are not wound. I love fluorocarbon low G strings. You don’t get all that string noise that comes from a wound string. I only lasted a few days on my first try at low G, aquila wound. I was instantly much happier with fluoro. I think I’m using Martins. Not sure though.
lisadmhParticipantWell done Ricky! Sounds great. You’re doing well at arranging. 😀

lisadmhParticipantWhat about a 5 string with both low and high g?
