robinboydParticipantFor reference, here are some examples of triplets
robinboydParticipantI’m no expert, but from what I’ve seen, triplets have a little bracket and a “3” on top. Otherwise, it’s mostly intuition. The easy way to check is to look at the time signature and count the beats. I was just guessing that that measure is in 4/4, but you can double check that.
robinboydParticipantI can’t find that bar in the tab I have for Abe’s blackbird arrangement. Perhaps we have a different version. Anyway, I don’t think those are triplets. I think it’s just 1/8 1/16 and dotted 1/8 notes. Assuming that measure is in 4/4, here is the sequence: 1/4, dotted 1/8, 1/16, 1/8, 1/16, 1/8, 1/16, 1/16, 1/16.

robinboydParticipantHi Grace. Just remember that harmonics are hard, so don’t worry if you don’t manage them straight away. I only encountered harmonics after a few years of playing, and at that point, I thought they were impossible. Just do your best and have fun.
Oh, and to address your 2 specific questions:
1. Your ukulele is fine
2. The idea is right, but you haven’t managed it yet. Keep playing with it until you get a clean chimey sound like Andrew gets. It requires a really delicate touch-

robinboydParticipantI’ll let others help you with technique, but I have a problem with the word “simple”. This is a really really hard technique. I wouldn’t stress about having problems with it.
robinboydParticipantAwesome! Keep them coming!

robinboydParticipantGiven that I inspired you @lyndallk, I’d better actually do them! That was great by the way
robinboydParticipantIsn’t he the guy who did the arrangement for Zelda’s Lullaby for RC101?

robinboydParticipantThat was awesome Brett!
robinboydParticipantI’ll check out those sites when I get stuck. I also recently bought a guitar but I haven’t hit a wall yet, so I’ll just keep going until I do.
robinboydParticipantIt might also help to try a few different strings. When I used a fluorocarbon low G, my that string went really sharp up the fretboard because it was too thick, but it’s fine with a wound string. Using different strings is much easier than filing the nut slot. It may or may not work, though.

robinboydParticipant@anirbaf – I don’t think it’s cheating. I do easy or hard songs as I feel like it. At this point, I’ve proven I can do harder songs, so I don’t feel like I have to demonstrate it every month. Plus, there is a big difference between how someone with a lot of experience plays an easy piece and how a beginner plays it.
robinboydParticipantI won it in a competition a few years ago. John, who designed it, is a really nice guy.
