robinboydParticipantI was going to wear it for Whiskey Before Breakfast, but I couldn’t find it. I think it’s still in a suit case.
robinboydParticipantI have that t shirt
robinboydParticipantI don’t have quantitative measurements, but Aquila Reds feel looser than other strings to me.
Another thing you could try is to tune your uke with Bb tuning (F Bb D G). I have done this for one of my ukes and it sounds great.
robinboydParticipantI’d say work on what interests you. It doesn’t matter whether you do a good job or not. What matters is that you continue, and if what you are playing bores you, you won’t continue.

robinboydParticipantThanks @sgwarren and @rickeymike. I’ve been working on that triplet technique for a while 🙂

robinboydParticipantI AM A PREMIUM MEMBER
Like @stianukulele, I felt that this really should be recorded outside. Also, when I play it, it should be called Out in the South.

robinboydParticipant@stianukulele – you stole my idea by playing on a log in the woods! Seriously, though, this piece really does lend itself to being played outside. Great job playing it, too.

robinboydParticipant@sgwarren – That’s not just you. I spent ages trying to record yesterday before I gave up.
robinboydParticipantHi @turbolift. You said that shipping from the UK is prohibitive, but where are you located? Finland? New Zealand? I can recommend a good place in Cairns, Australia.
robinboydParticipant@arlena57 – I agree with Matt’s assessment that it’s nice to have both. I’ve played more low G than high G lately, but I like to have the option of playing high G too.
robinboydParticipantI’m sure Andrew will make it clear soon. Just keep practicing your hammer ons, pull offs, and slides in the mean time. That’s all they are.
robinboydParticipantI answered your questions but it looks like my post got caught in the spam filters when I tried to add videos. I’ll let Andrew deal with it when he wakes up. Good luck.
robinboydParticipantHi Macdog. I’m practicing this too and I’ll try to help.
1) Don’t worry about the pull-off. It is entirely optional.
2) That’s a hammer on, so you play E and G and then hammer on to G# on the E string.
3) That’s a slide
4) That’s a slide to a pull off. That one’s a bit tricky.
I’ll see if I can upload videos of 2, 3, and 4 for you.

robinboydParticipantHi @nicolaaa – This may be a stupid question, but are you clear on the difference between low G and high G? If not, have a look at this video.
