robinboydParticipantNice!
robinboydParticipantYep. Even before the course, I had a song where I played an artificial harmonic in the middle of the sound hole on my concert (where the 20th fret would be).
robinboydParticipantWell done! I love this piece too.
robinboydParticipantOK, here goes…
Last year’s goal:
To enjoy my playing without stressing too much – ACHIEVEDI think I’ll be a bit more ambitious this year.
This year’s goals:
1. Finish memorising and record Moonlight Sonata
2. Learn a piece of music that features both Tiffany and me playing ukes at the same time and singing in HARMONY.That ought to be a bit more of a challenge!
robinboydParticipantThanks 🙂
robinboydParticipantWell done!

robinboydParticipant@becky7777 – Thanks. Tiffany cheated and recorded in the back yard, though 😉

robinboydParticipantIs that what they are called? I know how to do them, but I don’t recall ever learning the proper name for them.

robinboydParticipantHey @becky7777 was that hammer pull on the C string at 19 seconds intentional? I really like it.
robinboydParticipantHi Joel. Welcome.
I’m not a teacher or anything and I’m sure Andrew will have some tips that are better than anything I can offer, but I have also struggled with a sore thumb when playing a lot of barre chords. It’s something that has got a lot better over time, but I still end up with a sore thumb after practicing Moonlight Sonata for a while, for instance.
Apart from strengthening the thumb through practice and being aware of not applying too much pressure (which I’m sure you already know), the one thing that has helped has been making sure my uke doesn’t have a high action. That has meant either sanding down the underside of the saddle until the string height at the 12th fret is in an acceptable range or taking it to a luthier/guitar shop and paying them to do it.

robinboydParticipantWow @kanae926. I can’t easily access your previous videos to check, but it seems like you’ve come a long way since last year.

robinboydParticipant@k_ra11 – Glad to know I’m not the only one that is struggling to get a clean note on the 15th fret for Linus and Lucy. Has the cutaway helped?
robinboydParticipantTo be honest, Moonlight Sonata has been on hiatus for a little while, while I learn Linus and Lucy. I’ll pick it up again in the new year.
robinboydParticipantWell done! I love that feeling of finally being able to play something that seemed too hard at first. You totally nailed it, too. I see what you mean about the walk up, and I really love the harmonic note, too.
