AndrewKeymaster@lyndallk – Way to go, Lyndall! Excellent groove throughout!
@bethany_guardiani – Great playing and I loved the video! Very creative 🙂

AndrewKeymasterIncredible progress for 2 months, Niclas! Keep doing what you’re doing!
Form looks great. Only advice I can offer is to target your practice to the areas where you stumble a bit.
AndrewKeymasterI have the old model of this one and pretty much everyone I know uses it for their acoustic setup/gigs. It’s awesome, WAY more affordable than what the sales guy pointed out, and its got reverb and chorus built in!

AndrewKeymasterMy pleasure!
@katazumiri – Sounds awesome! Great job 🙂September 19, 2021 at 8:10 pm in reply to: Participate in the September 2021 Member Challenge – Theme: Songs About Food #48320
AndrewKeymasterYou should have enough time to come back down to play those notes. Maybe your strum is too wide in its down/up motion? Or as you said, you need to work it up to speed. It’s hard to say without seeing you play it. Feel free to post a video if you want me to take a further look 🙂

AndrewKeymaster@biancak – That part is strummed with the island strum. The melody notes occur on beat ‘4’ and the ‘& of 4’. Which means, your hand should be coming down on beat 4, but instead of strumming, you would be plucking.
Either way, you should be moving down towards the A string, not up towards the G string. Try counting the rhythm as you play and making sure your up/down motion follows:
1 D
& U
2 D
& U
3 D
& UMotion down to:
4 Pluck

AndrewKeymaster@shmu88 – Sounds great, Sam! I asked Chris to review your video and he had a couple tips:
“I’d have him move his hand up over the fingerboard, which will seem a bit weird at first, but stop him from attacking the strings too hard on the first stoke. He’s digging into that a bit too much and wants to bounce off the string a bit more.”
AndrewKeymasterIt depends on the music: where you are at or moving to in the progression of the piece.
If you’re strumming a 4 chord progression at the beginning of the neck, it would be out of place to move 1 chord all the way up the neck. But if you take those 4 chords and want movement where each gets higher in pitch, then the CAGED method comes in handy.
AndrewKeymasterYou nailed the mood, Robin. Beautifully played 🙂

AndrewKeymaster@bibilele – Beautiful played with a great, relaxed feel. Well done!
@johanna2509 – Aced it 🙂
AndrewKeymasterSounds great, Ulli! If you look at measure 7, you’ll see you’re a half step flat on those 2 melody notes on the C string.
The hardest thing with this song is the timing/flow. It’s really hard because my version is based off the virtuosic Tommy Emmanuels. I’d study his performance as it’s a great reference point for those 2 areas.
AndrewKeymasterI’d recommend taking a Skype lesson with Stephen for help on theory 🙂

AndrewKeymasterFantastic playing, Rhian! You nailed the vibe of the tune! My only critique is to not rush the first 2 bars of Melody B. It’s a really cool lick with tricky timing! Here’s a video I made last year to help another member with the rhythm/timing of those bars.
AndrewKeymasterThat should be fine, but I’d fret the A note on the G string with the middle finger.
And thank you for the kind words 🙂
