gi_gi_ParticipantHere is what I came up with on Moon by Taimane arranged by Evan J de Silva.
Can we all agree that Evan is so amazing? 🥰
Couldn’t sing because I wasn’t feeling well this week. The voice knows 😂February 27, 2024 at 2:32 pm in reply to: Participate in the February 2024 Member Challenge – Choose ANY Ukulele Song! #60698
gi_gi_ParticipantI’m enjoying everyone’s entries esp @denisedistefano Brava!
I dońt know why I picked Moon with a short month and so many things going on this month. I will post what I have learned thus far. I still have to add the vocals 😫 It´s way more difficult than I expected. A good challenge indeed.
@the_bumble_bard Nice job. I like your new chair. Maybe it isn’t new but I love the color.
gi_gi_Participant@surferjay I’m so sorry Jay. Jeremiah 29:11,12 have some encouraging words. I hope you find them to be so for you and your family. Thanks for posting again. That was amazing. You’ve been missed. I was wondering how you are doing about a month back. We just never know what people are going through. Thanks for the reminder….
gi_gi_ParticipantDidnt know anything like that existed. Wouldnt work for the 5/6 page song I’m learning right now 😂 Cute idea. Did you find anything yet?
gi_gi_Participant@ukeduke any solid wood uke would work. There are some decent ones for less than $60 on Amazon that are solid mahaogany top, back and sides like the Aklot. I’ve given them away as gifts. They come with a bundle of things like a bag, tuner, strap, etc…. and are all solid wood.
No pick is normally used for the ukulele. It’s a rare thing.
What a wonderful gift for your child.

gi_gi_Participant@surferjay Hey Jay, where have you been? We were missing your loop uploads. Great to see an upload even if it’s old ☺️. It’s an oldy but goody. Are you still playing uke regularly?

gi_gi_Participant@malku2603 That was so nice.
@rebeca I enjoyed your playing so much. It made me feel like crying and I don’t know why. I want to learn it now. Beautifully played. Glad you healed well.February 4, 2024 at 3:25 pm in reply to: Participate in the January 2024 Member Challenge – You Decide What To Work On! #60547

gi_gi_ParticipantI’ve decided on a song for the month. Evan and Katie’s rendition of TAIMANE’S Moon. What a beautiful song. Evan looks like he was 12 in that video. His playing is so so good.

gi_gi_Participant@Stephen I think Em is the key Stu from Ukulele Zen likes to play and sing it in. Thanks Stephen.

gi_gi_Participant@The_bumble_bard Hello my friend, thanks alot. Yes I just loved your video along with your playing. It was wonderful….. As far as my singing journey it is hilarious. I’ve dealt with losing my voice and going hoarse almost all my life. About 7 years ago I figured that if I learn to sing maybe it could help me. I have to constantly work on breath support in all areas like speech, working out, singing, whatever….I also warm up my voice daily with a straw in about 8 minutes 🙂 The interlubes are my friend 😂 You tube is great if you don’t give up. It took about 5 years to figure out what a true warmup is and which exercises are for me. Besides, I’ve had a few lessons with different Teachers I’ve found online/YT. You learn something from each one but in the end you must learn your own instrument/body and how you respond to diff techniques. It’s all trial and error and not giving up 😂 I don’t do well with the critical type Teachers who have nothing good to say at all. It’s a very vulnerable thing to do. After a while you realize you aren’t singing for other people per say. I’m happy with what I’ve learned thus far and it encourages me to continue since there’s so much to learn like singing the note you’re playing on the uke 😂🤣😂🤣 lol
You have started a clawhammer revolution. It’s been a blast to enjoy seeing so many pick it up. It looks so difficult.

gi_gi_Participant@Stephen Thanks so much for the good pointers. I can honestly say I haven’t put two and two together yet in regards to melody notes, etc. so I appreciate the conversation. I don’t play the Bb until the outro. I think I was playing a G but either way I should match my voice to what I play 😂 I’m laughing because I should know that already. Thanks for helping me be aware of this. What key do you like to sing Summertime in?
