ksapp92ParticipantIt’s been a crazy few months what with moving across the country and starting a new job, so I haven’t had time to really sit down and learn a tune for these monthly challenges. I got so excited that my winter break finally gave me time to complete a challenge, but when I went to upload this one, I realized the due date was before my break even started! 😩 Ah well, I had fun putting it together anyway.

April was a crazy month, so I only had a couple days to quickly put this one together. A simple-looking Etude, but sounds quite lovely!February 29, 2024 at 11:11 pm in reply to: Participate in the February 2024 Member Challenge – Choose ANY Ukulele Song! #60760
ksapp92ParticipantLoved the “free for all” this month! I decided to try out Fields of Gold. I’m still working on not slowing down on some of the transitions, but here’s what I managed so far

I spent a while working on “Always With Me”, but couldn’t quite get it ready. Here’s “Avatar” instead 🙂

ksapp92ParticipantIt’s been a little while since I’ve been able to participate due to some life things going on, so I’m feeling a bit rusty, but it feels good to be back! Still working on some of these transitions, but I really enjoyed working on this etude.

ksapp92ParticipantThank you @Andrew! I did notice the rhythmic inaccuracy after I recorded it, but I didn’t have a chance to re-record it, unfortunately. Thanks so much for all the work you and everyone else at RC 101 put in to help the rest of us fall in love with ukulele.
Congratulations to @jbmills07 on a beautiful new uke!June 30, 2023 at 3:18 pm in reply to: Participate in the June 2023 Challenge! You Choose: $1,745 OR $2,900 Kanile’a #58007

I tried playing around a bit with rubato for this one. I’m starting to work on some of the more intermediate selections, but this was the only one I felt ready to post.

It’s testing and concert season at school right now, so I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to practice, but I managed to get this done just in time.

ksapp92ParticipantI love fingerpicking style. This was a fun little étude, and I surprised myself by learning it in a few days! My biggest problem is my right hand, though. When I anchor with my pinky, my hand tenses up. It comes across and I playing, and more concerning, my wrist feels sore after playing for too long, which is something I definitely want to avoid. But when I just float my hand, I don’t feel like I have enough control to play finger style. Any suggestions?

Lovely little etude! I’m still struggling to jump from C(2) to F(1) though. Getting my pinky down along with my other two fingers is a challenge.

This is my first post on the forum! This one’s a tough one for me. I’m not one to post anything that’s not as polished as possible (usually on flute), so making myself vulnerable enough to post a video still very much in progress is very challenging. I picked up the ukulele for the first time three months ago and only learned about chord melodies when I happened to stumble on RC101 a couple weeks ago. I was fascinated by the style and wanted to learn it, so I started one of the December challenges. I definitely bit off more than I could chew, but overall I’m pretty proud of what I accomplished in a couple weeks.
