Participant@pysanky I too have trouble with my pinky. Mostly when I have to stretch it out to get the chord. Once the joint is straight to reach the stretch it stays that way many time. Eventually it will pop out of that position, but unfortunately sometimes not fast enough for what is coming up..

ParticipantThanks everyone. I do not have the skills to make it sound beautiful yet, but maybe some day. I used it in the April challenge

At the beginning of the month, I did not have a low g instrument, thus, the waltz and minuet were not possible. The other choices are beyond my skill level, but decided to try the Andante. Mid-month, my new low g came in (thank you rockclass101). But rather than switch song I decided to stay the course with the Andante. For me was very challenging, there seems to be no pattern in right or left. Sorry for the pauses and mistakes, but I think that it was good for me to push myself.

Participant@andrew thanks for your suggestions on part 1. I was trying to make sure I did not rush the beginning as I feel that part is one where best kept slow. I watched my video and do think in my attempt to have a slow sweet sound, I sacrificed the timing. I’ll try to correct that timing issue. Your comments are always so on point and helpful. Thank you

ParticipantI was hoping to have a better recording than this one, but running out of time to make another. A bit distracted while doing this on; my relatively new puppy was tearing up a rug during this recording. This is such a pretty song, I really enjoy it. Makes me want to watch the movie again.

Participant@stephen thanks so much for listening and your helpful comments. I think with a little more time I will have it down. My time this month was divided. Last month I was so inspired by the many performances of St James Infirmary, that I wanted to learn it. So have been working on that as well as Daybreak. I’ll continue with this to both improve transitions and pull off

ParticipantI code Daybreak. Need much more work on the pulloffs but the end of the month is here. Knowing Also need to learn to not let a mistake effect me. The great thing about these challenges are that they make you realize things that need a bit of extra work.

ParticipantI am voting for ‘Crazy’. My father’s favorite singer is Patsy Cline. He will be 89 this year and I certainly would love to be able to play this for him.

Participant@bibilele you did a wonderful job. I, too, am beginning my second year and was hoping to move to some of the more complex tunes. When I looked I really loved st james infirmary, but was really intimidated and did not take the leap and go for it as you did. However, i have been so inspired by the many performances of st james infirmary and also by you stepping it up and doing 5 foot 2, that I decided to try out a more complex tune although I had posted my dream a little dream. I am finding that had I just gone ahead and done it from the beginning of the month that I would have been able to get through it. Thanks for your inspiration!! maybe next month I will not ‘chicken out’ — though I do believe there is something to learn/gain from every song regardless of its technical difficulty.

Participant@stephen thank you for listening and for the tips and encouragement. I watch others and it looks like they are effortless in barring and I feel like I am having to press so hard even though I am using my thumb like a clothes pin to get proper technique. Seems that one hand mimics the other so when I feel I am pressing hard with the left hand my right gets tense too. Hopefully with time and practice I will gain what I need to be effortless

ParticipantI love ‘Scotland the Brave’ typically heard on bagpipes. Found this gentleman playing it on Ukulele and it is great. Would love for you to add this one to your list. Then maybe a monthly challenge for international songs 🙂 ? hope this video attaches correctly.

Bar chords are still a struggle for me. Dream a Little Dream of Me is the perfect song to work on improving bar chords, so I chose it this month.

Participant@andrew I forgot to include it in my performance post, but I did donate 25 to the ukulele kids club.

Difficult month and time got away from me. Here is my Rudolph. This is such a fun song but I admit I struggled to memorizes this. Many hesitations and mistakes, I probably should have made my recording using the tabs. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.
