    Reminder everyone, this is tonight.

I have to work late tonight so sadly I will miss it again, but I wanted to remind the rest of you.

I’m super curious about what Matt has to say as the thumb approach is one of the key things that differentiates him from everyone else on here. I find it harder with the thumb, but maybe because it’s not what I’m used to?

Anyway, have fun tonight. I’ll catch it later.

…found the bridge. On it, boss. Thanks!

Okay, excuse the stupid question, but which part is the bridge? I’m trying so hard to get something that I’m overdoing it and missing the obvious.

Nice Lynda. Both are great but this is more mellow.

Amazing Lynda. I wish I could do the fancy strum!

I was annoyed at the lack of dynamics on my recording. After multiple retries, I’ve decided my phone just can’t do it even when I manage to pull it off.

So I pulled out my fancy new camera and gave it a try. I think it’s a little better? Certainly the image is. Can y’all hear some dynamics in this version? If not, I’ll be headed for a full recording studio, lol.

Than you for the encouragement, Stephen. I actually worked pretty hard to put in those crescendos and decrescendos and thought I got it pretty well, so I’m not sure if I’m not doing it right or my stupid phone isn’t picking them up. The voice equalizer on the recorder is not helping me here. Anyway, I’ll try to exaggerate them more. Thanks!

Hi Phil. I’m just down the way from Hamilton. Did you go to the Guelph uke fest? I was there.

Hope to see you around the forums. Join us in the challenge! ☺

    I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER

Here it is and it’s only the 9th. I feel like this had been my easiest song to learn in a long time. I think I might actually have felt some of the progress Andrew had been taking about too. Maybe I’m wrong and it sucks, but this one feels decent to me!!

I’m playing on my new five stringso you hear both Gs. It doesn’t workon every song but I like it on this one.

    Feedback welcome!

Nice job Harvey! I love the slides.

Johanna, don’t fret about not having anyone to practice the expression with live. You can use it here.

I’m hoping to record this weekend. I’ve worked hard and I think I have a good thing.

I was just fretting over that pinky. I pinky anchor but I think it makes me stiff and rigid. I often get told to loosen up and I’m wondering if the pinky is partly to blame…. Hmmm….

I’ve been listening to these overt and over to get ideas for dynamics. I gotta say, I think Magic most nailed it. That’s what I most want to try to steal from.

Anyone else? Andrew says we’re supposed to listen to the real song over and over to get it in our heads. It’s a challenge song now. I know I’m not alone here. 😀

Andrew, Sunglasses may have been Corey’s biggest hit, but it wasn’t his only gig. Never surrender, dude, that one was the mantra of my teenage angst.

Rickey, you had to record in a costume. He snuck the instruction into the video. I missed it too, but probably wouldn’t have worn one anyway.

OMG, I just started messing with Sweet Child. Way above my level and it’s not going to happen, but life goals, dudes.

My stretch goal for the month is now to have the riff of it. I need more G&R in my life.

It would be cool to hear someone manage Bohemian Rhapsody but 19 pages? Maybe it could be a two month challenge for 3 or 4 entries instead of one month for three? Otherwise it’s 5 pages a week with a few days to put It together. Quite a task. It won’t be me, either way, unfortunately. Great song. Maybe in 2029.

Rickey, I don’t think memorizing was ever required, but It’s always highly recommended. It’s good practice and it gets so much easier if you keep memorizing.

I love all four of these! Clearly 2 are too hard for me. Ah, one day. I might try both of the other two this month. I’m starting with Falling in Love as I’ve already made some progress here.

Goal: Falling in Love, at speed, clean, flowy, with dynamics, and relaxed.

Stretch goal: a solid start on House of the Rising Sun

I’m starting to think of next year’s resolution already so I thought I’d check in on last year.

Keep my playlist alive: fail. I have a few songs but not all. Gotta work on that. It’s doable by the end of the year.

Add 8 new songs: not at clean playlist level, but I’ve learned 8

Including at least one original: nailed this one. I’ve got seven originals, five?this year, a few clean(ish)

Add dynamics: a bit, doing okay I think. It’s a process.

One level 3: nope, but I don’t feel the need anymore. I want to focus on easier songs, and play them better.

But I’ve had fun, and that’s the most important thing!

    Anyone else?
