lisadmhParticipantIt’s the last Sunday of the month and here’s what I’ve got. There are still a lot of cheats to bring it down to my level, but I’m pretty happy with it for two weeks short of my one-year ukiversary.
Onward and upward! Thanks for the cool song Andrew.

lisadmhParticipantThank you Andrew! I’m working on your suggestions. The good news is I was stuck in a boring webinar today with a colleague and I showed her my mid month version of this song and I realized I have actually gotten better somewhat. Yay for boring webinar downtime.
I now get to 92 % speed before it all falls apart, keep on practicing!!

lisadmhParticipantHey Andrew, I wonder if you’d have a minute to advise on this hard bit of Seven Nation Army. I can’t get it clean and faster no matter how many times I loop it.
One sticking point is that my slap falls such that I can’t cleanly pluck the first string after. I’m not sure what the other sticking points are bit I suspect there are several. Any suggestions at all are welcome. Thanks!

lisadmhParticipantIt’s all good, Andrew. Chopsticks actually sounds really cool and is definitely doable! I love your beginner ones that I can get through without too much blood sweat and tears.
Ricky, I’m happy to chat here in this space. I do hesitate sometimes since its such a quiet forum, but you and i can break that up a bit, lol.

lisadmhParticipantYou’re right, Rickey. F.o.c.u.s.! Mrrrph.
Spoiler alert, Chopsticks is actually a little tricky. I can play theme 2 at about 20% speed. Next month perhaps.

lisadmhParticipantSounding great, Rickey and cheick.
Kayleigh, I share your pain. I’ve hit a plateau too and I’m just not improving at this song anymore.
Luckily there’s a brand new beginners song to mess around with for distraction.

lisadmhParticipantI think I found the bad timing spot. I was rushing a bit. Thanks…!
lisadmhParticipantBonjour cheick. Bienvenu à rockclass. There’s lots to learn here.

lisadmhParticipantThanks Rickey!
And thanks Andrew. I can’t figure out though which part has the timing off. Is it the into single picking part or the bit further down? Our both? I’ve been burning up the on screen tab viewer and I feel like the timing isn’t too bad. Thanks.

lisadmhParticipantHere’s my mid month progress on Seven Nation Army. It’s a level 3 and I’m more of a level 1, so I made some adaptations to bring it downa bit.
1. As suggested, I removed the taps is the sections with simultaneous pluck and tap. I can’t coordonate that one at all.
2. I removed the extra little 16th F on the build up. I can’t change chords fast enough to get to the G smoothly.
3. In the chorus, I removed the C string note so it didn’t have to be barred. This was a deal breaker. I can’t get a clean bar that high on the neck and would simply not have played the song if I hadn’t figured this adaptation out.
I’m on track and I’ve memorized it, but I can’t get it any cleaner than this. I’ve looped a zillion times but I’m not progressing any more. Any suggestions?
I love this song. Thanks!
lisadmhParticipantAwesome Rickey! Good job. Isn’t it great to move people? ☺

lisadmhParticipantMayaqatsi, I love your fretboard challenger! I’ve downloaded an app called fretboard learn and I’m going to Keating the first five frets with you. Thanks for sharing the cool and useful challenge.
lisadmhParticipantI love my strap. It makes it a lot easier to hold it in place. Still sounds good to me. I did have the music shop install the button.

lisadmhParticipantPerfect. I’ve been working on Seven Nation Army. It’s beyond my skill level but I really want to get it playable.
1. Seven Nation Army, memorized and clean. I’ve made a few cheats to bring it down a bit to my level, but I choose to see that as a success because I was able to figure out what to change to make it work and still sound right. But memorization is a constant challenge for me. I will memorize this song so I can focus on playing clean instead of reading.
2. Bits at a time. Memorize a chunk, then read. Add a new chunk. As usual, use the on screen tab viewer to get the harder bits up to speed and clean.
3. Memorized by the 15th. Clean by the end of the month. A decent video in less than 20 takes. ☺
