I’ve only compared them with aquila strings and another brand (but I can’t remember what… but it was named – a luthier put them on my concert – they were as thick as telephone cables – I couldn’t wait to get those off) Living water strings added about £200 to the sound of my tenor. I love them – but I’ve not tried too many other ones. One of my uke buddies loves the worth browns too… as well as the living water.

    Hey everyone,
Hope you are all staying safe. Here’s my entry for this month – I’m really not sure that I’ve got this technique right at all – a lovely piece of music though and I really wanted to learn it.
    Take care,
    Lisa

    Hi there,
I have a red flight TUS35 – with the plastic back. I take it with me on trips. Last year we went to Laos and Cambodia. It was super humid and often raining and I had lots of fun with my little uke. The curve makes the structure a bit stronger for backpacking abuse AND if you are travelling in zones which require you wear deet and sunscreen – they are not going to damage the body. I don’t usually play a soprano – and yes, the set up felt weird – but I was happy sheltering from the pouring rain playing some tunes – or entertaining people at busstations when the bus was delayed for 4 hours! I put some living water strings on and it made a big difference too.

That was brilliant @Taylor22jane! Loved the family vibe – the benefits of lockdown if you have your own backing group!

Welcome Ben! I agree – leap in with a challenge, it’s very motivating! Good luck and enjoy your rediscovery of the happiest instrument! This is a good month to start too, some very uplifting tunes and the instruction is excellent. Just take it a small step at a time. Using the tab feature at the bottom of each of the lessons, where you can play along – that’s a great way to improve. I put it on audio and full screen then select the bits I’m working on and work up from a slower speed. Welcome to a great community 🙂

I am a premium member…. 2nd bash at this (I know it doesn’t count – but these tunes are keeping spirits up!) I’m in the zone today. This is slower than intended, but I’m trying to show you that I CAN slow down (in parts!!) Still needs some work – they both need some work….. I’ll do that whilst working on bodysurfing – but not today as my fingers are falling off!
    Keep safe,
    Lisa x

Hey all, hope you are all well. THANK YOU for such a cheerful selection of music for April’s challenge Andrew – we can but dream of the sunny beaches! They are very uplifting. I’m working on Hone a ka wai and body surfing as well… but wanted to break my trend of submitting at the last possible moment!
I’m recording on my new Kai tenor – it’s really beautiful.
    Stay safe everyone xxx

    Hey all,
I came a bit late into this challenge as work went a bit bonkers!
I know I can improve this and will continue to practice it – but today I really want to start working on those super cheerful Hawaiian numbers – definitely a tonic for the spirits!
    Keep safe everyone x

Loving the course – a very happy technique, it’s just making me smile. Quick question – does the thumb need to anchor all the time on the G string (when not striking) – I seem to be hovering above it, but that maybe me sliding into more fingerpicking – it sounds OK. Should I work on making sure it’s more anchored?
    Thanks
    Lisa
