miztakenParticipant@Gaby – metronome is in headphones and I am maniacally counting the beat. My music teacher has told me that I must work with a metronome, Andrew says this too.
I am trying hard to stop the mouth going too, and just count internally – but often fail 🤣🤣🤣
@donovan – OMG I am going to love watching you learn through the year. You are awesome!!!!-

miztakenParticipantHmm… lost my post.
@gaberdude it is a concert length, with the wider “jazz” neck.
A little wide for my fingers and current ability, so I just need to practice the Gmaj – C – B – C – Bb sequence more…July 23, 2019 at 9:13 am in reply to: Participate in the July 2019 Member Challenge – Summer Blockbusters! #29119
miztakenParticipantThanks @gaberdude – it is a beautiful instrument.
And that Bb sounds so much better at other times (that is my sticky point at present, currently 25% accuracy rate).July 23, 2019 at 5:11 am in reply to: Participate in the July 2019 Member Challenge – Summer Blockbusters! #29115
miztakenParticipantNew recording… a bit better sounding, but not my playing ;D
I removed the other recording from youtube – so link is not valid.

miztakenParticipant@robinboyd – I know, I recorded straight to the laptop, no microphone.
It is a weird sound, almost dead recorded this way.
I shall try the microphone and see if it is better – I was just being lazy. 🙁
I wonder too, my hand is in front of the sound hole. So does this affect what the laptop picks up?!?!July 23, 2019 at 12:45 am in reply to: Participate in the July 2019 Member Challenge – Summer Blockbusters! #29109
miztakenParticipantHi Everyone!
Here is my Jurassic Park attempt, two weeks practice, first thumb piece.
I have sworn that I hate thumb style because I cannot get past clunky and awkward, but maybe with this piece I may get “there” some day, and perhaps enjoy some thumb style playing.
It is slow @ 60 bpm, far from Matt’s delicate playing, and of course I can do better (sometimes) when the camera is not recording. But this is an example of average playing, bum notes and all.I am a PREMIUM MEMBER.
miztakenParticipantHa!
Thanks Becky – that is an awesome clip!!!!
And so very, very true.
I am now up to reading fly- shit at about 1/10th the speed of all those fabulous musicians 😁 as shown in the video at least (sigh).
And I agree, thank you Andrew for making us think “I can do that” when opening one of your tabs WITH the dots 👍👍👍
miztakenParticipantNice work Robin!
I pay a luthier to do mine because I am not brave enough to attempt it myself.
I am really impressed.
miztakenParticipantTwo favourites which bring tears to my eyes:
“Paukauila” by Kalei Gamiao
…and a brand new favourite:
“Ain’t No Sunshine” a beautiful, heart breaking arrangement by Andrew! 🙂
miztakenParticipantHi @gaevdl
It is already there, just a little tricky to find:
go to the Tab play along;
select audio only;
select the play with count in option (by the forward arrow with the 123 – right click the up/down arrows). It works well.
miztakenParticipantHi Steffi, welcome!!!
You will learn SO much, and play much better music for being here.
Enjoy.
miztakenParticipant@rickeymike I have bought a wee amp this year too – a Fender LT20.
It is a whole lot of fun – I hook up my Bohemian oil can uke, or Beloved Husband’s Epiphone Les Paul uke, OR my low G set-up tenor (but I don’t use this so much).
It has 30 different auto settings – so I can do all these ridiculous things with it (badly of course). I really only need two or three of them, but it has to appeal to Beloved Husband as well so he can hook up one of his guitars if he wants. It makes everything sound so much better when I turn it up so loud that I cannot hear myself 🙂
miztakenParticipantI am working on “Here Comes the Sun” – it is slow, and awful, and doesn’t sound like music… yet.
Also on Canon in C (NOT RC101), and a different version from a dodgy site which sent me all over the world when trying to get the tab (that would have mean malware & viruses galore), so I turned screen shots into score & tabs. Quite proud of myself for that.
Still working on Brahm’s Lullaby (have the C maj version down well, just working on improving the RC101 version because it really is prettier). But at least I have something ready for my non-existent grandchildren.
Chopsticks – I can finally count and keep in time with the middle section. I could play it well enough, but my fabulous (other) music teacher is making me COUNT to learn correct timing. So I have had to go back to the beginning for a few things.
And Bouree… still slow and awkward but getting recognisable.
AND… Heart and Soul. What a bugger that is!
miztakenParticipantWow @stianukulele that is fantastic. I love your dedication both to the show and the instrument.
Awesome playing.
miztakenParticipantGreat point about maintaining good form!
It took me ages to look at the side dots, and I still struggle at times – because they sit below my glasses level and are blurry 🤣🤣🤣 -
