miztakenParticipantHi @carolevoss
I think it is a custom uke – perfect for his lessons because it is easy for the viewers to see his finger placements.
miztakenParticipantHi from Sydney, @platypusjen
I know that problem very well… I have sat and practiced for so long some days that various bits and pieces seize up. There is much groaning when getting moving again.
But so much enjoyment goes into causing that specific pain level 🤣🤣🤣
miztakenParticipantHA! @bzediver!!!!
I understand!
I always describe brown ukes as “turds with strings” and had to gussy up any brown one that I had.
Now I just don’t buy brown ones b
Have fun here, soooo much to learn and lots of lovely people.April 9, 2019 at 7:41 pm in reply to: April 8th, 2019 Live Lesson Topic: Hammer-Ons & Pull-Offs #26433
miztakenParticipant@gaevdl and get a strap – solves all the problems 🙂
And I stabilse the neck further with the joint at the base of the finger holding the neck at the edge of the nut… see pic below:

miztakenParticipantHey @malachi – I don’t think the question is relevant, it is Andrew’s business.
He gives us a really great platform to learn from.
miztakenParticipant@hotmilktea – YOU BOUGHT ONE!!!!
I am so pleased, and excited for you!
You will love it, I can’t wait to hear your playing on it (I always look forward to other people’s excitement and joy at getting new things).
I passed my waiting time by reading the reviews again and again, and looking at the pictures of Moon Birds, and watching people playing Moon Birds, and just being anxious that I might not get what I paid for – but I did!
I really don’t think I will ever need to upgrade now, and I may make my “eucalele” my low G concert uke.(Lordy, I have too many beautiful instruments… I don’t know what to do with them all.)
miztakenParticipantThanks Becky – easy to find how to make friendship bracelets on the internet, and because I am also a scrap booker I have heaps of “stuff” to make my numbers for my ukes and to match my straps.
And I did a video! It sounds MUCH better in my head, also in my head I sound “just like Kalei Gamaio”, but slower. 😉
Hopefully by the time I have grandchildren, I will have it up to speed, no metronome in the background, and it will be delicate so the poor child will be able to drift off to sleep.
No grandchildren in waiting as yet, thank goodness… plenty of time to perfect it 🙂-

miztakenParticipantI will practice Brahm’s Lullaby and post it.
This version is in C, because I am getting the hang of counting and timing (apparently my “free form” timing just doesn’t make the grade).
I might even get a better speed on it…BTW aboriginal art uke strap is on (“Possum Dreaming”), plus coordinating #9 attached because all my ukes are numbered in some way.
miztakenParticipantOMG! OMG! OMG!
It is here!!! Only 9 days since I ordered it.
She is so beautiful, and so tonal (is that a thing? I mean it sounds wonderful!) with fabulous low action, and shiny, and shapely and just gorgeous.
I shall show her off to my music teacher AND “my” luthier on Thursday.
And now I am over excited, and I have to put strap buttons on… and that scares me because it is soooooo pretty and almost perfect (I have found one tiny flaw in the finish).
And there goes the housework, because now I HAVE to play…April 7, 2019 at 7:46 pm in reply to: April 8th, 2019 Live Lesson Topic: Hammer-Ons & Pull-Offs #26320
miztakenParticipant@robynboyd Seen it, and see you there (if we get it right – change of daylight savings does confuse things).
miztakenParticipant@robynboyd I have found Mike is not so good at responding to emails, but he is really good responding to contact via Uke Republic website contact. I think this is his main business contact forum – he was always quick to respond through here, or as a private message via facebook.
I am glad you haven’t given up on him… “we love Mike!” at our house 🙂April 5, 2019 at 11:31 pm in reply to: Participate in the April 2019 Member Challenge – WIN a Kanile’a Tenor Uke! #26273
miztakenParticipant@deadbuggy that is awesome!
My first impression of your sopranissimo: “It’s like she is playing on a bean!!”
I am really impressed at how good you make it sound.
miztakenParticipant@lyndallk My eucalele is at the luthiers having a few adjustments, if possible.
…And my second excuse is that I am just “not good enough”…
and third excuse: I get surprising stage fright!!!
I am usually a fairly confident big-mouth, but with the uke my brain fries and my fingers become ten thumbs with any hint of a human audience! I am ok with cats though, and Beloved Husband because he is my biggest fan.
Even with my new music teacher who is a really lovely, gentle soul – I become this fumbling buffoon playing the same thing I “mastered” the night before. It is quite interesting observing myself. Where did this person come from?
More practice required, and maybe taking it to a park to practice because there will be people there. Or something.
miztakenParticipant@wabbitt – I am SURE it will make me play just like Kalei Gamiao, but I will be happy with Cory Fujimoto as second best. 🙂
miztakenParticipantGot to have something going for us to make up for the ridiculous prices of everything…
