Things didn’t exactly go to plan this month learning a new piece, BUT I had lots fun getting back into practicing, and revisiting songs and lessons from years prior. It’s amazing how much your fingers remember! At any rate, I am proud that I brushed the dust off my uke this month and made time to practice.
Here is a piece from my favorite concept lesson- Harmonizing in C Major!
It’s been a few months (okay, maybe years!) since I last posted here, but I’m excited to be back. A lot of big life events have kept me busy, and I started feeling guilty about not playing as much as I used to. Then that guilt turned into avoidance, and my uke has been collecting dust… but something changed over the past few days and I’ve decided to brush off the dust to get back to doing what I love 🙂
1) Execution – I’m going to work on Blackbird, a song that has helped me through some harder times.
2) Application – I’m practicing… well, practicing! Staying consistent, playing a little bit each day, and focusing on getting a clear and consistent sound with each note.
3) Evaluation – Most importantly, I will make sure I’m having fun. Hopefully I’ll even post a video at the end of the month- the first time in a while! 🙂
Ok this was a fun challenge! One of those where it takes awhile for the strumming to feel natural, but as soon as it clicks you can’t remember why it was ever so difficult, ha. Just took a few days of sleeping on it 🙂
Anyone else wish it was summer yet?

This might be the latest I’ve ever submitted… but this one truly took the whole month to learn ha! Still a few spots here and there, but I am pretty proud of this take. I will get to that guitar solo one day!
@Andrew thanks for the video tips, I see what you mean! I’ll pay more attention to cropping when using the split screen effect.
Learned Take Five this month… and a few audio recording and video editing techniques as well! One of my new favorites to play.

Spent the last week adding more dynamics and getting the sustain right… props to all the submissions because it’s harder than it looks!! 🙂
Okok disclaimer this piece still needs a bit of work on my end, but yesterday was my last opportunity to film with my dad so we went for it! The Entertainer has always been one of my favorites to hear him play growing up, so it was an honor and a joy to join in this time! 🙂
