Thanks Lisa, had technical difficulties yesterday when I was trying to record. Ended up slicing that take out of last weeks practice recording. Lucky I had it!

Not sure if this will help at all, it’s something i’m doing in addition to the lessons above.

I chose the note “G” to start with.

    1) First I located all the G notes on my fretboard, including open string notes. This number will be different depending on how many frets each ukulele has. (My uke has 16 frets, so I personally have 6 total normal places I can play the note “G” on my instrument. Two G’s per string.)

    2) Going from G to A strings, I say, “G” out loud first, & play all the G’s on each string.

    3) Once I can play a given note from G-A strings confidently, I go back from the A string to the G string.

I have no idea how to ‘properly’ practice this, so you’re kind of on your own with it, like me. Just shared what i’m trying since it literally covers the entire fretboard for each note.

@smokealot – “Bernadette Teaches Music” on YouTube (led me to believe she) is an elementary school teacher. She might be good to ask for “fun teaching” tips if that’s the general age of your group? One of the youtube guitar guys I subscribed to, talks a lot about his teaching experiences involving older children a lot.. I can’t find the name of the channel right now. (I’ll find it) He might be good to ask.

I’m not trying to be a pain btw. I just need to know if i’m on the right track please? (And if trying to jam triads in the tiniest areas possible is actually useful eventually overall, or a waste of time.)

I need to do “something” like this in F major to understand what’s going on with that frustrating walk-up 14 seconds into the St. Elsewhere Theme. I’m not asking randomly. I’ve been working really hard to figure this out.

    Awesome miz!

Love it’s look, it’s unique! With the two knots by the neck, and the shape of the fretboard dip, it looks like a guy singing with the soundhole.

Would love to hear it when you’re back from your trip. “He’s” #10?

I couldn’t help myself. I decided on E-19 for a lot of more fun reasons but it reinforced voice leading. I firmly grasp the concept btw, but putting it into practice is challenging with the movement involved in the runs.

When it came out, it was challenging just to do the piece because of the stretch and bars for me now.

Having a lot of difficulty getting the chord change from Em6 to Am smooth, and i’m super inconsistent getting theme 4 smooth and clear each time after landing there from the other section. 😫 <-frustrated face?

I need to look at what you did with the breakdown going into T4 and see if I can understand the general concept enough to apply it to connect pieces of things I have kicking around too.

@lisa – I completely forget all the songs I learn after I stop playing them within days.. I may add a “refresh some songs i’ve learned” to the uke resolution. I can probably play most of them better now if I refresh… (Ideally lol) Forgot to add, good idea. I really should record my other personal challenge songs to have the record of it. I slacked on this last year.

I made progress on last year’s uke resolution, but didn’t fully accomplish my goal. (I lost over 50 lbs though, so there’s that.)

This year i’m shooting for something I should have made progress on in 2019, but didn’t. Intervals.

I’d like to be able to identify them by ear and name them. Found some fun exercises, but need community help to execute them. Figure I can give it a shot. Might be fun for everyone.

@Andrew -On your arrangement statement. Considering i’m benefiting from everything, sounds good? Can’t say I’m ‘past’ it. (I managed to make Free Falling difficult, so i’m sure I’ll benefit.)

    Nice Rick!

I’m all stuffed up from a cold but sounds close! I need to listen again when i’m not sick and can hear better. Nice tune by Cory though. Have a good new year!
