cncamachoMemberI already submitted Yankee Doodle but also worked on 12th Street Rag and the Entertainer this month. Ended up spending more time on the Entertainer. It’s not polished, but working up to speed and improving it. I really enjoyed hearing others play Freight Train so I might work on that one the next couple weeks.
Good choice on a banjolele for this month’s theme @lildevil

cncamachoMemberWelcome @gmflin8, my first uke was a pineapple soprano. As you’re already thinking, after a couple months of playing and knowing I’d stick with it, I decided to upgrade to a concert. I’ve found it much more comfortable for regular playing. I now like to bring my soprano on trips to the beach and such. As you get more into the lessons and if you decide on a concert, you can also have one of them strung with a low G so you can have greater range for some of the song lessons.

cncamachoMemberBeen working my way through the harmonics class so I was pleased to get the first harmonics. I find I get the best sound using my middle or ring fingers. I’m still working on successfully nailing that final one–I see others are facing similar problems.
Here’s my take on Yankee Doodle but hoping to also tackle 12th street rag this month.

Here’s my June submission of People are Strange. I definitely still struggle with switching the chords quickly in section D and need to work on it more but happy with where it’s progressing and glad to add this song to my repertoire.

cncamachoMember@johnnyrotten, I found an inexpensive and gently used (already low g strung) Kala Pacific Walnut on Reverb a while back. It ended up being at a local music store so I saved on shipping too.

cncamachoMember@andrew, thanks for the tip — going to work on adding that as I up my speed.
@rickeymike – good goal, I’m getting there!
@willymac and @sgwarren, thanks for listening. My low G uke is a Kala Pacific Walnut concert —May 13, 2020 at 8:40 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2020 Member Challenge – WIN a Kanile’a Tenor Ukulele! #37782

Here’s my first go at the simplified version of Out in the North. I’m trying to work my way up to speed and to the performance version. Not certain I’ll get there this month, but stay tuned.
cncamachoMemberI’ll be the first vote for Hey Jude.
cncamachoMemberI have Top Stage guitar hanger from Amazon but it easily holds my Luna soprano pineapple and Kala PWC concert. Very inexpensive.
cncamachoMemberI have the Aquila Red with a low G for my concert and I really like them. I just switched my high G soprano to a Martin fluorocarbon but when those wear out I might switch that to Aquila red, too, because I think I enjoy the clarity on them.

cncamachoMemberAdded Loke Lani to my repertoire, in addition to Day-O. I’m still trying to perfect it but happy with the progress and hope to try Hone A Ka Wai and some of the other Hawaiian song lessons.

Social distancing is really forcing me to practice uke more! I’m submitting my Day-O video early, although I know I need some practice smoothing it out at speed and getting down the triplets. Inevitably, my videos always come with a few hiccups when I record.
Looking forward to practicing this song more and trying out Loke Lani as well the rest of the month.

cncamachoMemberHappy to get back into this with the social distancing.
Glad I have a low G uke for my attempt at Waltz in C.
