@mark1256, that was so joyful, despite the danger! Nice playing and singing. It cheered me up. I am from middle Europe, so I can´t relate to the hurricane. But I wish everyone to avoid all dangers!

@The_Bumble_Bard, you are a very creative person and you can play in such a nice calming way! I really like the jazzy feel at the beginning. Thanks for sharing.

@lisadmh, I like all your originals. But my favorite ones are “Salt, sand, and…” and “A Beautiful Life” – especially this song touches me a lot, I can feel that it is from the heart. It also affects me personally. During this year two of my three “kittens” died – they were almost 18 years old and it comforts me that they had a beautiful life. I hope their sister will stay with us for a while longer.

On a slightly more cheerful note:
It was impossible not to notice that a large number of ukulele players have a cat/s (or a cat has a ukulele player). Sure, there are dogs and other pets too. But it seems to me that cats predominate. And what came first – the ukulele or the pet?
It might be worth “serious” research. 😀

Regarding the chord progression, I find this video very interesting and useful:

    Hi everyone,
here is my June post. There are some inaccuracies, but it’s my most rhythmically successful attempt. I tried to record with a metronome, but I was too focused on listening to the metronome, so the playing was not relaxed. Luckily, the metronome’s battery died. 😀
Thanks to the Rockclass team for the great lessons. It inspires and motivates me a lot. I always appreciate your feedback.
Have a great summer everyone! And some even winter!

I like your performance, @akukes73. And I admire that you mastered a rather difficult composition in 3 weeks.

    Hi everyone,
I chose The Chicken …in my version, The Catching (the rhythm) is more apt. 😅
This time I enjoyed not only learning, but also the recording itself. It was my first time recording with a band.
    Have a great time!

    Very nicely played, with feeling.

I suspect Ziggy is a little jealous: “Stop stroking that weird pet! I’m here, attend to me!” 😃

    Hi everyone,

this month I chose The Ascent. I knew it would probably be beyond me, but I wanted to see what I could learn in a month. The challenge was mainly right hand technique and pace. But the hardest thing for me was to remember it all. It was only 4 days ago that I managed to play the entire song from memory. I am uncertain in most of the passages. And when the red button on the camera turns on… this is the result.

I personally don’t like Aquila strings. I prefer fluorocarbon strings. I also like the Martin M600 for concert ukulele.

It’s physics. My understanding is that sound makes waves that we cannot see. Each tone has its own frequency. So when you play C, the string vibrates and with its wave pulls down other waves at the same frequency – i.e. all C strings within range of the wave will sound, even on another ukulele.

I was finding out because something similar happened to me.
I played a G string and heard the same tone from the opposite corner of the room. Mystery! I repeated it and followed the sound. A child’s guitar packed in a cardboard box rang out. 🙂

    Hello everyone,
I really enjoy watching all your submissions. I chose God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. I am still not comfortable with thumb picking. I miss smooth tone. When I get better, it might be my favorite strum picking. 😉
Andrew, thank you and the entire Rockclass101 team for the beautiful arrangements and great teaching.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!
