It’s physics. My understanding is that sound makes waves that we cannot see. Each tone has its own frequency. So when you play C, the string vibrates and with its wave pulls down other waves at the same frequency – i.e. all C strings within range of the wave will sound, even on another ukulele.
I was finding out because something similar happened to me.
I played a G string and heard the same tone from the opposite corner of the room. Mystery! I repeated it and followed the sound. A child’s guitar packed in a cardboard box rang out. 🙂Thanks to all of you. I appreciate your kind words. I am happy to share my passion for ukulele with you here at Rock Class 101.

I really enjoy watching all your submissions. I chose God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. I am still not comfortable with thumb picking. I miss smooth tone. When I get better, it might be my favorite strum picking. 😉

here is my attempt at La Donna è mobile. I really like the arrangement. So I’m sorry for the last beat of the intro – I don’t seem to be able to count to three. 🙂 But the rest of the song is probably the best I can get out of myself, so I recorded this take.

I don’t have a low g ukulele, so I chose Let It Be. It is a very beautiful arrangement and I really enjoyed learning it. But even after a month, I can’t play it without a mistake and at the same time in rhythm. It’s either or. But I’m looking forward to the time when I can even manage level 4 per month. 😀
