jinajupiterParticipantSanding it down and spay painted a layer of primer. All the hairs of the wood started to stand up so I will have to sand it down again. It might sound better without a layer of paint but I am trying to find out if this makes sense to do with kids.

jinajupiterParticipantI AM A PREMIUM MEMBER
Yihaaa, a one-taker! Or maybe too lazy to record again. It’s was quite confusing to me to play the high G string with my thumb. So a good brain trainer! And I had to tune the C string a bit too low because if not the e-note would sound too high on the C-string. So I compromised here. I ordered this mango version of the ukulele I already had, but I am disappointed with the sound, at least for what I paid for it, so I will send it back. To make the recording more spacey I added a bit Chorus and Reverb on my little Crate-amp. The Sellotape (Scotch) strum at the beginning is fun to do with this effect. Wish I could afford to grow nails like Hotmilktea, so many nice performances here!

jinajupiterParticipantWow Donovan you are learning fast!
jinajupiterParticipantThe was a hole in the body and bottom of the neck to put a peg to connect the two before glueing. I bought a rounded stick and the hardware store and glued everything together. After the glue dried I closed the gaps with wood filler. I think that will take a while probably a week or so, to dry before I can paint the whole thing. So there will be a continuation of this story in about a week.

jinajupiterParticipantBze diver, what uke it that? It sounds crystal clear and your playing too.
jinajupiterParticipantThanks Andrew, anyway looking forward to this electric solid body metal string uke. Cheers 🙂
jinajupiterParticipantHow would you pick this Andrew? Do you still play up wards when the note is anticipated?
jinajupiterParticipantLisa, I mean with an actual plectrum, plastic or celluloid, not with your thumb nail. I can imagine that gives a sharper tone and more attack.
jinajupiterParticipantBuy sand paper and wood glue 🙂
Curious to see if this makes any sense.
I’ll keep you updated. 🙂
jinajupiterParticipantHey nice Lisa!
I also just started practicing this one! Not easy at all!
Really cool arrangement Thanks Evan and Andrew.
In one and a half month I will receive a solid body metal string electric ukulele.
So much looking forward to this moment!
I would like to be able to play this one by then. It has a low G so I will have to adapt here and there. Also I will omit a few notes here belonging to the harmony Because I am afraid it will sound too full on the el Uke.
I’d love to hear your version Lisa when done. I will probably cone up in about 3 months, about one month after the el. Uke arrives.I have a question Andrew, is it possible to play the whole thing with a pick? If so how to you play two notes on top of each other, or just harmonies in general, just strum or do you pluck them with you middle and ring finger? I’d love to learn more about playing with a pick but I can imagine you do not find this topic ukulelistic enough to get deeper into it. This is anyway a great start. :). Is el. Guitar also played with just fingers?
Great drummer b.t.w. Very subtle and groovy.

jinajupiterParticipantGaberdude, 1st chorus he sings from the maj 7th, in our key it would be: e, e e e e d d d c c, e, and the 2nd chorus he starts lower, from the 5th note, so in our key, c, c c c a c c c a b, a. :). So both chorusses are quite different though sound similar.
RobinBoyd, I felt it was more about dreamworld into the daily life, and memories into the night, so two together,
united relaxed under the mango tree.July 4, 2019 at 8:48 am in reply to: Participate in the June 2019 Member Challenge – LAST Chance to WIN a Kanile’a! #28665
jinajupiterParticipantHeyy Gaberdude and Robinboyd, yes indeed e-note is the MAJ 7th of F.
Or the 7 th note of the corresponding F scale.
J.J. Is singing the chorus different both times.
Except for the last sentence where he is even singing the 9th,
In our key of C and on our chord F that would be the g-note.
Like the first note of ‘Girl of Impanema’.
(I know this because I play piano)
I found it interesting in the lyrics that I think the point was to NOT have to many things to do together under the mango tree. Day and night together in balance.
How did you guys interpret the lyrics?-
