kanae926ParticipantCongrats on winning such a beautiful instrument! Looks and sounds amazing. Not at all jealous over here. 😆 I bet it’ll be hard to put down when you have that shiny little beauty around. I hope to see and hear more in upcoming challenges. 🤙🏻
kanae926Participant@jass007 – have you tried restringing the ukulele so it’s left-handed? Then you won’t have to play right-handed positions. It should be a direct mirror image. I would think this is easier than trying to relearn using your non-dominant hand for strumming.

kanae926Participant@mark65536 – I don’t know how you made that video, but it was epic. Thanks for making it! Now…can you give a lesson on how you make your cool videos? Inquiring minds want to know. 😂
kanae926ParticipantGood luck! Let us know how it goes.
kanae926ParticipantRon, what device are you trying to download the YouTube app to that’s requiring a CC number? I use iOS for iPhone or watch on my PC browser (neither of which require a CC number). If you’re using Android, you can still watch YouTube without an app if you use an internet browser (e.g., Chrome, Edge, Firefox).
kanae926ParticipantLiving Water strings are my absolute favorite! They’re a little pricy, especially considering the exchange rate and shipping to the US, but they’re so worth it. My second favorite are Worth Browns.
kanae926Participant@surferjay – did you end up finding something to lower your action? I bought a $10 file set from Amazon a couple of years ago to test on a cheap Soprano that had bad action. It worked well enough. The widths ranged from 0.4mm-1.6mm and because they weren’t really all that sharp, it wasn’t hard not to file down too low if you go slow.
kanae926ParticipantI like this…should be an interesting lesson.
So do you know what components are unique to Jake’s arrangement that differs from the original? Makes me wonder why he made those choices.
Looking forward to Saturday!

kanae926ParticipantOoh, ahh! That’s always a popular model and I can see why. It’s beautiful! I bet it sounds great too. Can’t wait to hear you play it. Congrats! 🙂

kanae926ParticipantPaul, there’s a Live Lessons Library link at the top of Free Lessons. Or you can bookmark this page and save it in your Favorites. I think if you start to type live lessons in the browser address bar, it’ll probably auto-fill the rest and take you right to the page next time.
kanae926ParticipantGreat choices! Tough decision. But I’m gonna go with Shallow.
kanae926ParticipantHey, Sam. Brand reputation (along with material quality) make a big difference in the overall playability and sound of the uke, but you also want to make sure you buy from a specialty shop that will setup the uke before shipping it to you. There’s only so much quality control done out of the factory but the finer details are done by the dealer. They’ll check for intonation issues, sharp fret edges, adjust string action, and make sure there aren’t any cosmetic or general defects.
Everything else (like size and tone wood) is preferential. That being said, Kala is generally a good/trusted brand among many while staying in the affordable range. I have two myself (a soprano laminate Mahogony and a concert solid spruce top) that I’m pretty happy with.
kanae926ParticipantHow about on a desktop?
