I chose Have Yourself a merry Little Christmas. So much fun to learn this one. I have enjoyed all submission, as always, everyone does wonderfully on these challenges. Regardless of what you may be celebrating this season, or even if you are not celebrating at all, I wish you all joy and peace.

I tried to donate to the ukulele kids club, but their page would not load. I will try again later and let you know when I have been successful

@andrew thank you for your confidence in me and my attempts at more difficult songs. This years progress has be frustrating for me. After my left hand finger injuries earlier in the year, I feel my progress has slowed. My fingers have not yet reached full strength; plus, my ring finger healed such that it curves toward and over my little finger making some things difficult. I continue to try to adjust and build strength, but it has affected how i feel about my abilities. Your kind words and confidence mean a lot. Thank you.

I love Always with me from Spirited Way. Though it is above my skill level, I chose to give it a try. There were many frustrating moments when I said “this is impossible for me’ and considered changing songs. But, figured if I don’t push myself, I will never improve. I don’t regret staying with it, but I am sorry to all who listen for such a horrible entry. I have played it better than this , but this was the best I could do recording. Still needs a great deal of work and I enjoy this song so much I think I may continue with it

Learning Morning Dew brought some much needed peace and calm to a stressful October. Thank you for this etude @andrew. Additionally brought much needed work on hammer-ons and pull-offs. I see where I tugged abut too much (and it wasn’t even a HO or PO). Loved this etude. Good luck to all throughout this 3 month challenge. Looking forward to listening to everyone.

@misterbones is the uke you are playing
a cedar bird or is it a moon bird and lighting making it look like cedar bird? I have been eyeing the cedar bird and am thinking that I would like to get one eventually. If yours is the cedar, how do you like it? What are your thoughts on it? Would you purchase again?

@andrew that you for taking the time to create a video lesson for me. Yes, that section on my performance does sound very staccato-y. I have managed to smooth it out a little bit. I had to slow it down a tad to accomplish that. I have looked up , but not contacted, a luthier in my city. I am a bit worried that they my not be able to lower the strings as it already looks very close to touching at the first fret (but VERY high at the higher frets). But, am willing to call and get an experts evaluation. I am wondering, in your opinion, while this is being done, are there different strings that might help? Current are Aquila nylagut.(spelling?) if so, I could also request that he switch my strings. Also, please do not include me in this months drawing. I saw that @leb397 commented on how much she liked this months prized and that she would like a tenor. I’d like to improve her odds of winning.

Here is my summertime swing. I tried this on my tenor, which I do not play often. It was my first ukulele; a gift from my daughter that actually got me interested in playing. It is lovely and means a lot to me because it was from her. However, I struggle playing it vs my concert. The strings are so much more difficult to press. But it does sound better at the upper frets so thought I would give it a try for summertime swing.

@mark1256 I am from Charleston, SC so I can relate to the hurricane too. This was really fun and great.

Isn’t it interesting how the same music evokes different things in people. I listened to this earlier in the day without reading your title or hearing the story. I closed my eyes and listened. For me, I would have called it ‘A Day in the Forest’. In places I imagined morning dew dripping from the leaves of ferns, in other places looking at huge trees, night falling and getting lost, then finding my way and seeing streams of the light from sunrise making its way through branches. Was nice listening and getting taken ‘away’ by the music. Thanks for sharing.

Nice job @deadbuggy. If I remember correctly you were having either hand or wrist issues last month. Glad to see you are on the mend. I always enjoy watching your performances

@The_Bumble_Bard thank you for listening to my last month’s submission. I appreciate that and your compliment. Though I always use the whole month to work the challenge, I try to post 1 to 1.5 weeks before the end. Unfortunately, that is not when I am capable of my best performance. But I do that for what is a good reason for me. I hope to get suggestions and tips early enough in the process so that I can use them in the last week or so to optimize my month on the challenge. If I wait until the end, I am getting ready to start a new one, so then I don’t have much time to incorporate tips. An added plus it takes a little bit of pressure on recording anxiety out as I know there is plenty more time to get another recording if I want. Have fun working on summer nights, I have chosen summertime swing this month ( slides in the upper frets are much more difficult than I anticipated)

@The_Bumble_Bard , I prefer picking to strumming, but at the end of last year I resolved to try to get more comfort with strumming. I have worked through Matt’s course called “Next Level Strumming” and am now working on it’s capstone piece “Crossing Hemispheres” I highly recommend the course if you have the time.
