lhamiltonParticipantI tried Crazy this month. I preferred to lower the key by a couple of notches so I used my Baritone with the capo on the third fret —

lhamiltonParticipantThanks Andrew! It was fascinating to work on. If I were performing normally, I’d have simplified the accompaniment especially on the long high notes since it’s hard to self-accompany using complex accompaniment and still solo fluidly. However it was fun fitting in the accompaniment.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I tried Nessun Dorma. It was interesting and challenging putting the whistling solo with the accompaniment —

lhamiltonParticipantThanks, Andrew! I’ll try that. I’m usually nervous when I record but this was more than usual. I’ll definitely try your suggestion.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
I tried Let It Be this time. I don’t think I’ve ever been quite so nervous while recording as this time 🙂

lhamiltonParticipantI know I’m posting this long after the thread was started, but I wanted to say that I’m nearsighted and have had a hard time with the tab size. However, I’ve found that I can control the size of the tab from the Tab Play Along section. I set the preferences (which includes size) the way I like it, make the tab play along sheet full screen and print that, page by page, to screen from which I can create a pdf — or simply print on my printer from there. (I find doing all this easier on the iPad)

lhamiltonParticipantThanks, Stephen! The problem with the memorization wasn’t so much the chords as the different order of strings played by the right hand. I’ll keep playing this piece til I get it more memorized. Strangely, I found that, when I played more slowly I seemed to stumble more. I suspect as I get more comfortable with the piece, I’ll be able to work at different speeds more easily.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I tried Prelude in C. Made definitely some mistakes in the playing, but this was my best recording. I found it interestingly difficult to memorize, but it’s quite a beautiful piece and fun to play.
Linda
lhamiltonParticipantWow! It’s beautiful! Congratulations!
lhamiltonParticipantHi,
At the bottom of the app screen is a row of black control buttons. If you press the one with the lines and 2 music notes, you’ll see a list of use options — often just Synthetic, Audio Only, and Video. If you select “Audio Only” rather than “Video” the video screen will disappear. I sometimes use “Synthetic” if I’m having trouble following a series of notes or rhythms in the Audio Only.
I usually also go to the options (the cogwheel) and disable display of the chord fingering charts so that the tab and musical notes have more room to display in screen.
You can also set the app to replay selected areas indefinitely using that circular icon on the bottom of the app and the % icon lets you set to different speeds.
For most of the practice I do, I use another app — Amazing Slowdowner, but I’ve found this RockClass App really handy a lot of times.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
I’ve already submitted but I’ve been working in an intro to Wouldn’t it be Nice and wanted to share it though I’m not sure it’s very good. The intro is normally in what sounds like a calliope so I tried to aim for something slightly out of tune.
