lisadmhParticipantVery cool. Looking forward to the new course!
Last Friday’s song, House of the Rising Sun, had quite a trippy strum in it too. There’s a world of strumming out there to discover, I suspect.
lisadmhParticipantCute paint job! It’s looking great.

lisadmhParticipantWow Rickey. You’ve made so much progress in the last few months. This is really nice. You’re inspiring.
I use a free app version of guitar pro. It has some limitations but it gets me through. I have a few songs I’d love Andrew to use as a starting point. Lol. Maybe some day.
lisadmhParticipantRickey, check out this video. Eventually it gets to baritone
lisadmhParticipantI think it just comes out in a different key on a baritone but the song still works? Andrew?
lisadmhParticipantHas ukulele acquisition syndrome hit, Rickey?
Ubass and bari are not on my list, as the tuning is different, so fingering is different, and I’ve got enough on my hands as it is learning the regular stuff. I am hankering for a 5 string though, with both high and low G. There’s always something!
lisadmhParticipantI second Becky. You need a low G string or a set with a low G. In a set, only the g will be different. An octave down is too far down to get right by just winding down the tuner.
See this set? Scroll through the options. You see high G sets and low G sets.

Lots of us have a uke strung to high G and another strung to low G since you can’t just flip flop between the two that easily on one uke.
I think the main difference in sizes is just the length of the strings? Not sure though. Buy for the size of your uke.
There are as many opinions on strings as there are people, but I much, much prefer fluorcarbon, especially for the low G. Some sets have a “wound” low G and that string is really loud and boomy. It sounds and feels different than the rest of the strings. With fluorocarbon, it sounds and feels the same as the other strings, just lower.
lisadmhParticipantExcellent! Different from Rickey’s but also awesome.
I love it when members inspire members. What a great community we have.

lisadmhParticipant@mfaske you have to buy a low G string and restring the g. It’s a full octave lower than the usual g.

lisadmhParticipantCongrats Rufio! I love my islander. They’re great ukes. Let us hear it!!

lisadmhParticipantEastern Uke for me. I’ve wanted that one for a while but I’ve never been able to get through that first bar. This gives me motivation. I don’t know if it’s better or worse that the first bar is the hardest. It’s the part one tends to play the most, so more practice, but it starts the song on a discouraging note when you can’t get it. I will try, while still channeling the Force from last month.
I might clean up La Gitanita too. That one was featured before but it has fallen off my play list.
lisadmhParticipantAwesome job. That’s such a beautiful song. It’s on my wish list, but tricky. You did great with it!
I’d never have guessed that you suffer from recording paralysis. I think I have a more serious case of it, lol.
lisadmhParticipantWelcome! There’s tons of fun to be had around here. I hope you’ll join us in the monthly challenge! A new one is coming soon for the month. It’s a great motivator.
I get that bug too. No need to log out. Just going to the My Account page fixed it. Not sure what’s up, but it’s not hard to go to My Account then back, back, refresh. I just roll with it.

lisadmhParticipantThanks Andrew!! I felt like I didn’t do that well on this one but maybe it was better than I thought.
Maybe I’m feeling the music more, or differently than usual. I really get into the tune and love it. I’m not counting at all, I’m just feeling. I’m not shooting for perfection, I’m just channeling the Force!
