I don’t have one but I’m interested. I tried an 8 string recently and loved it at first go but at my second visit really only wanted the double G. If you can get your hands on one to try, that would help. I haven’t been able to try a 5 string yet.

Ha, after practicing all day, to the point of sore fingers, I can now play that same lick at 55 bpm.

    75% is usually my goal.

Good job, folks. I’m jealous! This month’s challenge is killing me. I’m on tonight you belong to me and somehow I just can’t get it.

I loved it, planet! I was expecting much goofier. That was actually very good indeed. ☺

Yes, everything about this topic is yes!

Unfortunately I will miss the live lesson but I will study it closely after the fact.

First question, how do I learn to lighten up? I’m always getting the feedback that I’m tense, not laid back. True. No matter how hard I try to relax, I’m clamped down and tight. How do I learn to be relaxed and laid back without being sloppy?

Hmm. I’m such a play by the rules person that I do exactly what I’m told to do, but I’m left wondering why when it doesn’t feel right. The only time I really change tabs I’d when I have to dumb it down because I’m not good enough.

It’s so tempting to dumb down my weak hammer ons and my tinny pull offs, but I need to push through them and get better. Maybe I’ll even add some and really force it.

    Thanks guys.

Beautiful. You have a great singing voice for that song. It looks pretty doable on the getting hand but you’ve got something fun and funky going on on the strumming hand. I like it a lot. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, I’m doing it just like Jake Shimabukuro.

I can’t believe I got to type that sentence. It is the only time in my life I will ever get to do so.

Thank you for the self-esteem booster. 🙂

Booo. I adored it last week, but when I went up there today with some possibility of actually buying it, I want nearly so enamored. It gives a lot more sound, but the high C was bugging me, and everything I played sounded messy. I’m sure there’s a learning curve but I was getting different sounds depending on whether I picked from the top (thumb) or bottom (finger), which was really jarring.

    That harmonic though, wow!

Maybe a five string would be an interesting compromise, our maybe I have enough ukes? Lol.

Hmm. Much, much cheaper but doesn’t ship to Canada and there’s nothing interesting on the Canadian Amazon.

I think I could pick it. I did okay in store. I’m headed there now to check it out again.

    Really hesitant on price…

Thanks Andrew. I’ll be playing it on the uke. My badgering my partner to learn the kazoo is failing.

Andrew, clarification please. In the bit marni posted above, I read it as the uke version of the kazoo section is okay for the challenge? So we don’t need to kazoo? Others are saying we have to kazoo.

I hope it’s okay without, as I can’t sing so 1 is out, I can’t kazoo, so 2 is out, 3 has been vetoed in my house, and 4 is too hard! 🙂

Guys, the kazoo is not mandatory. They transcribed that section for uke, so we can just play a standard uke melody line instead.

docuke, fingering changes ate always allowed, As long as you’re hitting the right notes.

Oh no, my partner is vetoing Wipe Out. He’s such a good sport with me playing poorly all the time, over and over and over again, that I give him the right to veto songs he really can’t stand and here we are with Wipe Out. It’s nothing against the arrangement, it’s the song.

    Back to the selection stage.

I think Wipe Out might be my pick. I’ve tried it before and it’s harder than It’s level suggests, at last to me, but now I have the extra motivation and accountability. Let’s see if I can make something of it!
