nocnyptakMemberAre you planning EAR TRAINING COURSE?
It would be great to learn a song by ear and just play it on ukulele – I am sure you would do great tutorials!

nocnyptakMemberThanks, Andrew!
It is RISA soprano made from one piece of solid maple wood, and equipped with a passive Shadow piezo pickup, top mounted Grover tuners and Fluoro-Carbon strings. Pretty plain but the action is good indeed, buzz free along the scale and extremely easy to play. I bought it half price on ebay (only last week) and I am very pleased both with playability and its compact shape (perfect for travel). I use it as a silent uke for night practice while everyone is asleep but it can be plugged into amp (which I don’t have with me when I am away that’s why I recorded it in silent version).CONGRATS TO THE WINNER!!! 🙂

nocnyptakMemberHello
Here is my entry. I am away from home and actually everbody is sleeping here so could record only my travel silent uke – hope it is ok but you do need volume max up to hear anything 🙂
I was actually working on Hertwig Theme piecethid month but my harmonics suck and my travel uke is headless so cannot do open string bends at all… Here is my The Adams family recording then – with my original rubato effect at the end ;-).
Great arrangements – thanks, Andrew!

nocnyptakMemberI am delighted watching you dancing&playing and truly admire your style, Taimane. I am sure you will get a lot of questions but if there is any chance to get to this one then I would really like you to show us how you play harmonics (kinda tutorial please). I watched available videos plus Andrews made an effort to demo this but I am still struggling to get it right and clean. I love the sound and Andrew made wonderful arrangements using harmonics so I am absolutely dedicated to practice those. It seems to me that everyone plays it slightly different way though. Perhaps you can add some of YOUR tips how to do harmonics right?
Thanks a lot for your great input 🙂

nocnyptakMemberHi Andrew
That was great challenge and busy month. I improved all previous songs and I can play Games of Thrones smoothly now. I also learnt beautiful Magical Waltz which was my main goal for this month and I will keep practicing to improve it.
My evidence that I can play Magical Waltz at 50-60% is 3 minutes 45 seconds long (almost 200 MB) and it doesn’t load to the server though so I pass now because (will be busy and have to stop upload). I wish good luck in the draw to other participants.
Thank you for your great arrangements, Andrew!

nocnyptakMemberI actually work on a few things (+keep improving previous challenge songs) but your Magic Ukulele Waltz made me narrow my asap goals to that one:
1) I’m going to work my way through the Magic Ukulele Waltz and memorize as much as possible for me (and memorizing is a great challenge by itself to me, haha…)
2) This tune is so soothing. It has potential to become my no 1 warming exercise and my last bedtime lullaby. It will take me months to nail all transitions, increase the speed to 100% and express dynamics the way I wish but I will make an effort to play as often as possible and gradually improve all nuances. I’m going to put this tune under long-term care.
3) Last day of the month I will record my performance and see how I am doing. I am disillusioned and don’t expect perfect performance this month – 50%-60% of my expectations will please me though.
What a great challenge!
Thanks, Andrew 🙂August 31, 2017 at 11:42 pm in reply to: Participate in the August 2017 Member Challenge – Hawaiian Themed #13343
nocnyptakMemberThanks, Andrew 🙂
Here is my love and my struggle – just to document that I do work on Aloha-Oe and will keep practicing for months to come 😉
(This is actually my silent teton uke version so you need to volume up to get some sound – I had also Martin version but there was too many errors and I couldn’t even upload it properly…)

nocnyptakMemberHi all,
I was wondering if I should post my vid at all because it is still long way to perfect the song – but the goal was to work on the song and to record what I have… So I did make an effort to record it. However, I cannot upload it (sic!) so obviously you are not meant to view my love an my struggle this month 🙂
Congrats to all who posted. It was a tough challenge this month!
(I will keep practicing anyway…)

nocnyptakMemberThanks Andrew!!!
To celebrate launching UBASS on the rockclass101 site here is my brand new bass uke version of Aura Lee 🙂
nocnyptakMemberBrilliant!!! I purchased ubass immediately when Andrew announced his plans about ubass on site (well, I had that in mind for a while – he just pushed me over the edge, haha).
I would be very happy if we could get transcript (tabulature to download or even better – guitar pro files) of your arrangements please!
Thanks very much.

nocnyptakMemberHello Andrew
So here is your tab version of Aura Lee in my interpretation :-).
I actually only now noticed that tab version is not the same as the one in your demo but I am away from home now so can’t make another recording at the moment. I will see how things are on Monday and if time allows I will perhaps make another recording then… Thanks!

nocnyptakMemberHi Andrew
Hope you are getting better & better!
I was of great hope to learn Games of Thrones theme and I am still working hard on it – but I am really far from smooth transitions between certain bars + higher frets Hammer on just does not work for me at all… Obviously quality tenor uke would help here 🙂
Meanwhile I will enter this month challenge with Spongebob Squarepants theme because I am running out of time now… I know it is far from perfect but I find it really hard to record whole run played smoothly.
I really enjoy both challenges. Thanks very much!
All the best to all 🙂

nocnyptakMemberHello Andrew,
Hope you are doing well.
Would you be able to give a few tips and perhaps one day also create concept lesson about arranging the songs?
I love your arrangements. I would really like a few tips how to make a standard melodies so interesting and rich. I do try to read some music theory but it would be wonderful to get some general tutorial how to do it, what is most important, where to put attention etc.
Thanks very much!
(Look after yourself!)
