MemberI missed a couple of challenge months because I dropped my Ukulele and it broke 🙁
A little out of practice so I went with an easy choice………and it was fun to do with piano!

Here is my July entry. I told myself I would stand up to the challenge of playing and singing at the same time. I messed up the lyrics on this take but aside from the one hammer-on flub, this was my best playing take so here it is. Funny how much you rely on the dots on the fretboard – after having learned the piece, it was hard to capo up.
Lyrics, intention, chord shapes, transposing – there was a lot for the brain to process, LOL.
Great arrangement – really had fun with this.

Andrew, I had asked you if this was okay that my son (DottieCtrain) and I submit this duet and have it count for both of our entries for this month. I had a hectic month so my son took the melody part.
Ignore the Outtakes later on – just had to keep a record of it for my own memory 🙂
Fun piece!

MemberAndrew, I have a question:
I am a premium member and my son (dottiectrain) is a regular member. If we learn the duet together and submit the same video, will it count towards our respective accounts?

MemberPremium member here but I already submitted my ‘backup’. This is the video I had wanted to submit.
Okay, a bit silly I know, but I had a lot of FUN doing it and roping in my family. Big props to those of you who submitted Blackbird this month playing while singing! I optimistically tell myself if I had another 2 weeks to practice diligently, I would be able to sing and play at the same time but I’m probably kidding myself! That’s hard!!

Still working on the main video (I’m gonna take a stab at singing), but in case I miss the deadline, I’m pre-submitting a different take here.

Wow, so much fun to work on with the backing track.
I was happy I got it up to 100% speed, though this was the best of 11 takes and not perfect by any means. Now I need to work on technique to not have those extraneous sounds. I guess it’s just practice? Letting go of frets “quietly” and such? I’m not sure if you have a video giving pointers about how to be careful of extraneous sounds from your fret fingers….
Thank you RC!!

What a great arrangement!
It was really difficult though. Had a hard time with a few of the chords and transitions.
I couldn’t figure out how Steven managed that Cm chord with three fingers though – no matter what I did, I couldn’t get all three fingers on there and get the A string to ring out, so I had to change it up….
Really fun, and will definitely keep working on this one!

I went with Five Foot Two – enjoyed the whole strumming course to get there. Of course, couldn’t find the time to really practice those chord changes.
Sorry, autofocus got turned off on the camera.
Also, I was out of cell phone range this weekend and couldn’t watch online to learn the last couple of chords.
Oh well, so fun!

Didn’t have as much time to work on this as I wanted – December is always crazy – but this is the best out of 30 takes. Finally got it up on YouTube after having tried with the soundcloud interim upload above – I hope it wills till count in that Christmas spirit;)
