Many thanks, Andrew and RC101 team for a fantastic year of lessons. It may not seem like it from this video but I know my playing is improving. But more importantly, I’m having more fun than ever playing the uke! Safe and happy holidays to all.

Apologies for the memory fade in verse three, but I was so in the flow I just kept going.

deadbuggyParticipantThis is why you’re a great teacher — -keep pushing me!!! I may have to put this one aside for a while and come back to it. In the meantime, now that I’ve got a Low G uke that’s comfortable for me to play, I’ll be rooting through all those other Low G lessons 🙂
Thanks again, Andrew!October 14, 2019 at 11:10 am in reply to: Participate in the October 2019 Member Challenge – WIN a CUSTOM Kanile’a! #32589
deadbuggyParticipantAndrew — I went back at Helen’s theme, Part B and I see what you mean about the counter bass notes. Here’s take 2 on a different uke — Jake Shimabukuro’s soprano with a concert size neck. I put a low G on it and found it soooo much easier to play down the dusty end of the fretboard than on my tenor. Many thanks!

deadbuggyParticipantMany thanks, Andrew! I’ll revisit the bass notes on the B sections…sometimes what I hear isn’t what is written and what I play isn’t either of those 🙂

Here’s my version of Helen’s Theme…complete with hammer-ons rather than picado (sorry, Andrew…the fingers just don’t work all the time!), a couple of clamshells and a slight pause later in the tune where the memory failed 😉 I loved learning the tune; it’s a great arrangement!
And, just for grins, here’s a video I made last year of my progress with Danse Macabre. Happy Halloween!!
deadbuggyParticipantwow! lovely instrument and impressive playing! Congrats on your new uke, Lyndall.

deadbuggyParticipantThe new strumming course is a blast! It just so happened that I did a video practicing Five Foot Two and moments later…the contest announcement 🙂 As often happens with me, I’ve added my own little touches. My fan stroke gives me a stroke at the moment, so I’ll work on that. And while I can do the pluck strum I had more fun doing something else. Anyway, Happy Labor Day, Happy September, Happy Strumming!

deadbuggyParticipantThanks, Andrew and thanks to Matt for this super fun arrangement. That section of the Imperial March is a bear for me…I feel like someone cut off my fingers with a light saber. But I’ll keep at it! May the Force Be With You!!!
