Thanks, Andrew! I’d be lost without the tab player for learning this. The looping feature is great for the listening reps I really need to sort out the rhythm measure by measure. ! Don’t know how far I’ll get with this, but loving the challenge.

    Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!

    Hey Andrew-

If I want to attempt Funk Jam on a low-G ukelele, since I don’t have a baritone, what are the adjustments that need to be made because of the different tuning? I realize that if I have to ask this question I probably shouldn’t be attempting this piece, but I really like it and want to take a stab at it.

    Thanks!

    Hello Andrew and all-

All the selections were so beautiful it was hard to choose. As I really wanted to practice arpeggio strumming I chose Etude No. 32. The strums are still pretty clunky but better than before learning this piece! My left hand went off script at measure 21 so pardon that. Everyone did such a great job this month, congrats! Thanks, Andrew, for all your lovely and fun-to-play original etudes.

    Hi everyone-

Here is my take on Study in B Minor. Huge thanks to Steven for the Classical Technique and Style course, the thorough descriptions and attention to detail are so helpful.

Thanks for everyone for your posts, each and every one inspires me to keep at it.

This month, I chose ML004, Celtic Etude. I love the tune, which really motivated me to work on getting better at the techniques. I found the left-hand position really challenging, both to keep a relaxed hand with both the index and thumb around the neck, and to achieve clean pull-offs on the E string, especially with the index finger, which felt cramped for space.
Thanks for the fun lessons, Andrew. Even though “mini,” they are “mighty” in terms of getting fun reps on challenging (to me, anyway!) techniques.

That was amazing @madz_about_uke! I loved listening to it and really loved the vibe you gave the song. Your voice is beautiful and you crushed the formidable “I know” section! Lovely playing. Thank you for sharing.

    Hi @soccer1,

Yes, I had the same problem when learning Fingerpicking Etude #16 last month. It worked fine to play through, but froze up if I tried to manually set a looping section. (Like you, I was also trying to loop a section with a repeat). I am using a laptop with Windows 10. This is the first time the tab player has done this for me in a year of using it, so hopefully it is a temporary glitch.

    Hi all-

Thanks to everyone who’s posted so far, you are all my inspiration! Here’s my 75% Fingerpicking Etude 16. Thanks, Andrew, for the rec for Transcribe, I am definitely going to check that out to make 80-90% tempo tracks. Thanks to Stephen for this piece, it was really fun to learn.

This is my somewhat halting attempt at God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. I had fun learning this. It was my first thumb piece, and also great for working on chord changes. Thanks to Matt for the arrangement and everyone at Rock Class 101, teachers and students alike. I’ve learned so much from you all since joining in February and am very grateful.

Andrew, thank you for the feedback and encouragement. I definitely plan to continue working on giving the piece “shape” and I like your and Steven’s idea of thinking of the dynamics in terms of the breath. Very helpful. Best, Jody

Here is my attempt at Great Fairy Fountain. It was pretty challenging technically for me, and I ran out of time to actually try and make it sound musical :). Thanks everyone for your inspiring entries!

@jbmills07 Thanks for sharing the story about your learning and performing Lacrimosa. I’m sorry you didn’t get to play for Tony, he would have loved it. The whole bittersweet story came through a second time in your performance. Very moving…thank you.

I started the month working on Lacrimosa- such a beautiful arrangement by Steven– but after two weeks, it was obvious I’d need much more time :). I then chose to go with Stranger Things, since I love the show, and this is such a fun arrangement of the theme by Andrew. About 70% was the best I could do without breaking down on “3 chord” bits too much.

I’m loving listening to everyone’s submissions, such great work by all, thank you.

    Hi all-

Here is my very slow version of In the Summertime. This was a big stretch for me, a needs a lot more work, but super fun to learn and to try techniques new to me. Big thanks to Steven for the arrangement and to Andrew for all the amazing content and to all in the community for always inspiring me!

    Best,
    Jody
