johanna2509ParticipantThank you Andrew for the feedback video! I’ve checked the sheet music and noticed that the rhythm is actually like bars 5 and 6, thanks for pointing it out 🙂

johanna2509ParticipantHi!
Here is my take on the Animal Crossing New Horizons Theme Song. I’ve learned it right after it came out but had to refresh it since I haven’t played it for a while.
I am also a big fan of the series (not much of the switch game because of the nintendo online thing being quite necessary to progress in the game but that’s another topic) and I would also love more video game music arrangements! It is so much fun to play the tunes from our favourite games 🙂Thank you Matt for this awesome arrangement. You can learn a lot from it, barre chords, big stretches and jumps…

johanna2509ParticipantHi, so this arrangement was much harder than I thought it would be.
Until yesterday, I was practicing on my tenor, but I couldn’t get the big jumps or tricky four-finger chord shapes down in time…. So I switched to my soprano, hoping to compensate that.
But now I could barely get all the fingers into the Dm7 shape and the barré chords are rather quiet….
Here it is:February 27, 2021 at 7:03 am in reply to: Participate in the February 2021 Member Challenge – Theme: Mixed Bag! #45535
johanna2509ParticipantHere is my take on Gymnopédie No.1. What a beautiful arrangement!
It wasn’t easy to record such a long piece without mistakes or noises in the background… I guess there are one or two string buzzzes.
Having a busy time right now, but I’m glad I made it this month.
johanna2509ParticipantRiver Flows in You! One of my all time favourite piano pieces.

johanna2509ParticipantThank you for the feedback! Yep I saw the video, but I still have to figure out the right amount of force so that all notes ring out equally 🙂 My hammer-on was also way too loud in the beginning.
I guess my family has to hear this song a little more often hihi.December 9, 2020 at 1:00 pm in reply to: Participate in the December 2020 Member Challenge – LAST CHANCE TO WIN Kanile’a #42813

Hi all!
Recorded Deck the Halls yesterday. I hesitated a bit at Melody C, but I decided to upload it anyway and continue practicing the hammer on pull off riff with the feedback 🙂
Barring the first fret on my tenor uke is harder than on my concert ukes… another thing I have to work on.Happy Holidays everyone 🙂

First of all, thank you for this wonderful arrangement. I absolutely love it!
I’ve placed my phone closer to the ukulele for a better audio qualitiy, thus my hands aren’t as visible.
Recording was stressful as always, but here is my Dream State:November 1, 2020 at 12:24 pm in reply to: Participate in the November 2020 Member Challenge – WIN $1,800 Kanile’a #41684
johanna2509ParticipantYay great song choices! I’ve already learned Puff the Magic Dragon, Toss a Coin to your Witcher and Dream State 🙂 The latter is one of my favorite RC101 arrangements, I play it almost everytime I practice.

Thank you Andrew for another challenge! It’s been one year since I subscribed to the premium membership 🙂
I’ve recently posted my take on the melodic etude in another thread and already received feedback. About a week ago I also recorded Ode to Joy. I am still working on Out in the North and other songs. I feel like I need to take a break from the triplet picking or otherwise I forget how to fingerpick “normally” haha.
So here are the Melodic Etude and Ode to Joy:
Wow, this Kanilea is one of the most beautiful ukuleles I have ever seen 🙂
johanna2509ParticipantHi Steven! Wow, thank you for this detailed answer.
I am relieved that I’m doing it right so far 🙂 I started learning Ode to Joy and I think it is way easier than the Etude. I thought breaking the circle of the triplet would mess with my brain 🙂
But it comes quite naturally and breaking the circle totally makes sense. This technique opens up a lot of cool possibilities.
I’m excited to learn Out in the North!
I tried to tackle it when it was part of a monthly challenge, but I wasn’t happy with the sound of my playing (of course I used other fingerings and not the triplet picking).
Tobias’ and your performance sound so magical and fluent, I hope I can achieve that too when I get there!Regarding the curled fingers: I guess it’s the same with holding a guitar pick.
Some people have their fingers curled, some spread them open and others are making more like a fist. Everything is correct though, just depends on what feels right.I just wanted to make sure those slight differences with my right hand don’t affect the speed or the sound in general.
Again, thank you so much for taking your time to write feedback 🙂 It helps so much.
I noticed you are using a Flight ukulele too in this course! They build great instruments, I’m happy with my choice 🙂
johanna2509ParticipantFirst of all, welcome Steven and thank you for this great new course! I started learning the triplet picking right away and made it to the Melodic Etude. It feels quite comfortable what I’m doing, but I’m not sure if my right hand motion is correct. I recorded myself to check and compare it with Steven’s right hand.
I noticed my hand is not completely parallel to the strings and my motions are a bit bigger (especially when strumming all 4 strings with the index down). Also the other unused fingers are more curled. Is this a disadvantage? Before I go on to the next unit, I want to make sure I’m not training my muscle memory wrong. So here is my recording:
Looking forward to hearing feedback 🙂
