johanna2509ParticipantThanks, Andrew! Now that you said it, I noticed the bent index finger, although I know it has to lay flat on the strings. However, I recently cut myself into my index finger with a kitchen knife. As soon as possible I started playing ukulele again, but still with a patch on my finger. I can imagine I used a wrong position so that the strings ring out without noticing the incorrect left hand form.
Well, I hope it fully heals soon 🙂September 15, 2020 at 6:49 am in reply to: Participate in the September 2020 Member Challenge – Original Music! #40840
johanna2509ParticipantHi all!
Here is Wonder Part 2. Even though it is considered a Beginner Song, I really struggled with bars 12 and 14… My fingers feel stronger now after I got it down 🙂
I’m impressed by your composing skills guys! This challenge reveals unknown talents.
johanna2509Participant@Andrew Do you think Dave’s course is suitable if I want to learn the electric guitar? I know that all the basic techniques can be applied to both acoustic and electric guitar. But he mostly has tutorials for acoustic guitar on his youtube channel.
I like his way of teaching. His explanations are as clear as yours 🙂

johanna2509ParticipantHere is another Rainbow Connection. I had a busy month, that’s why I chose an easier tune. I wasn’t a big fan of this song at first, but now I really like it!
I hope the sound this time is better. I recorded with the front camera of my phone again (last month I used the main camera), thus the quality is not that good, but the ukulele sounds louder. So here it is:

johanna2509ParticipantThank you Stephen! I don’t know what I’ve done different this time, but I noticed that the video is really quiet… I hope the next one will be loud again.

johanna2509ParticipantHi,
this is the best recording I could get.
I never played a song with so many hammer-ons, pull-offs and slides 🙂 Thanks for this arrangement!-

johanna2509ParticipantThank you Stephen, I didn’t expect another feedback! Yes, those high notes were louder in my first version. Plucking harder solved the problem.

johanna2509ParticipantSo here is the version with my little drum beat. It’s just a simle ABAC pattern, thus a bit repetitive. Anyways, it helped me to keep the timing more steady, so I’m quite happy with it.

johanna2509ParticipantBrett, that was great! Your performances are always impressive.
Lyndall, I love the arpeggiated strums! I still can’t execute them very well.

johanna2509Participant@lisadmh I created some as I was playing around with ableton live lite to replace the metronome.
There are also drum beats on youtube you can use to practise. (I use the yt ones to practise electric guitar, though)June 22, 2020 at 3:25 pm in reply to: Participate in the June 2020 Member Challenge – LAST CHANCE TO WIN Kanile’a! #38869
johanna2509ParticipantWow what a quick response! Thanks so much Andrew, I will work on that section with the drums 🙂

Here is my try on People Are Strange. I didn’t know the song before but now I love it! The low G is perfect for this song. Great arrangement, Andrew and AJ!
In the recording, I totally forgot about the pick up bar… and there are some more minor mistakes.
I am looking forward to the feedback, because I created a drum beat in ableton and I want to try to play along to it 😀 It’s more fun than playing to the metronome.Stay safe and best wishes,

johanna2509ParticipantThank you Stephen for your feedback! I am surprised that there is no other critique on my playing! I’m trying to get a full playthrough but I also wanna go to another song 🙂

Hey all! I am with you all guys, recording is soo hard… Im trying to record for a week or so now…
but there is always a little mistake, brain freeze, unwanted string noise, forgetting what I am doing…
I kinda feel bad for it, but I cutted the video. I never wanted to do that, but this piece is the hardest I’ve ever learned so far.
I will try to get it more smooth and possibly record a better take. There is still a lot to learn. You guys really nailed Out In The North! So many great submissions.
And… I am also doing weird faces while playing lol.
And another thing I wanted to mention: I am impressed by Andrew playing and counting out the rhythm in this lesson. I literally had to hold my breath haha. And then he said, it was his 8th take (I guess) of trying to count and play it right! Keep up the great work, RC101 tutorials are the best!
