lisamccParticipantThanks for the feedback Stephen – much appreciated. I’ll go back and modify those bits.
lisamccParticipantThanks Recdog – that’s great to know. I’m working on both but have got Jake/Taimane’s method so much faster – I think with the other method it’s harder to get the 3 different sounds, because it’s difficult to get the separation of the down middle then down thumb…. I just didn’t want to inhibit my other strumming patterns. If you are finding it transferable, I think I’m going to just work on that and build in some slaps. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me. Lisa

lisamccParticipantHey Uke-buddies,
Been working on lots of stuff this month, but wanted to record this one – as I LOVE it – it’s such a cute song… and also, I have a tendency to race like a crazy thing, so to play slowly is a challenge.
Happy May everyone,
🙂oh I’m a premium member too…. sorry – forgot that bit

lisamccParticipantHi Andrew, just found this on youtube – any chance we could get Evan to do it for Rockclass101 and have a lesson on it – it’s in low G. He has the tabs, but some help would be fantastic!!!
I’m loving the Moonlight sonata!
lisamccParticipantLovely tune…but in duets I would love the other instrument music too so I can practice both parts or with someone else rather than just with my laptop backing. My sister has just started to play the piano. This is a cool piece..welcome AJ.

lisamccParticipantQuick question to all those techno-peeps out there – what is the easiest way to record myself playing the duet (both instruments – split screen)
Sorry if this is a basic question.
Thank you!

lisamccParticipantWow – thank you! It’s a really cool piece of music – I love the fact that you usually hear it on a huge organ!

lisamccParticipantWow – great submissions so far, well done guys!
Here is my offering…. I’m posting my first take (when I was just testing the mic and was absolutely freezing – hence the jumper which fills the room!) It’s got mistakes which make me cringe – but seemingly, the second that I’m ‘recording for real’ my fingers tie in knots!!! I’ve been working on this for a bit and have it memorized and have continued to try to improve it this month to hit my target of ‘top of the neck’ stuff. I’m also working on Danse Macabre, and I’m nearly there, but I keep forgetting bits, so I’m just submitting this now and I’ll submit that when I’ve got better fluency – it’s very hard on a concert not to be thuddy at the top. (my bass submission will be another month – I’ve got the notes but not the drumming – maybe too ambitious this month!)
Happy playing everyone!

lisamccParticipantThank you Andrew – that’s very kind! I think that singing helped me keep pace a bit better and not speed up, and strangely I was a little less nervous when recording (still terrified… but definitely less so) I am certainly up for more songs but I’m not sure my wardrobe is going to live up to that sweater!
😉
lisamccParticipantThanks Andrew! 😉

lisamccParticipantWow – this is a fun challenge! So many things I want to do – easy to work on now, but the second that school strikes again, time will just disappear, so I may be being a little optimistic!
I have bought a ukulele bass! It’s really cool – the strings are sooooooooo thick! It sounds like a double bass but is so small!
1. Execution: on the u-bass I am a beginner. I would like to work on reading bass clef, playing walking bass-lines and also doing some rhythm work (drumming) although this may be learning to run before I can walk!!! I have a double-bass book in French (!) that I’m going to use for practicing reading that has some nice jazz practice runs. I will practice every day, but the amount of time may vary when I’m back at school.
2. Application: I would like to read and play some of the jazz bass-lines from my French book cleanly/fluently. Ideally – and this may be too optimistic, I would like to be able to play some form of a u-bass version of ‘keep on running’ by Adam Ben Ezra.
I don’t know how the drumming is going to translate onto the u-bass rather than the double bass, but we’ll see!!! As I don’t know how to drum on either instrument, this could be interesting. I have bought a transcript of the music.3. Evaluation: I guess I will measure progress weekly. Seeing progress in reading speed will be easy as I’m really slow at the moment.
I’m also starting to work on Danse Macabre as I’m not abandoning my little concert – although transferring between instruments is really strange, the strings are tiny on my concert. This is a crazy wild piece and may potentially take over my practice time!
lisamccParticipantWow Rickey…great performance! Amazing setting too..I thought i’d stepped into a Christmas feelgood movie! Well done and Merry Christmas! X
