AndrewKeymasterHi Jerry, check out this video and let me know if it helps clarify the above.
“is the xxxx really different than a chunk?”
No. But you could do muted strums if easier.
“guess the same question for the first xxxx but I really don’t know what to do for the single x — an up down chunk? The less one seems to skip right into the next slide and I’m not sure what to do for that.”
Chunk on the XXXX and do a muted up strum on the single X. Since I strum up with the nail of my thumb, I tend to only hit the A string, but you can hit all if muted.
Let me know if this makes sense. I can clarify in a video tomorrow for you if needed 🙂
AndrewKeymasterDone 🙂
AndrewKeymasterAww, thanks Misty! Glad you enjoy it 🙂

AndrewKeymasternthibode – Beautiful playing and great feel! Keep up the excellent work, Nathalie 🙂
brettboy – Wow, Brett! I love your groove and you nailed the transition into the Refrain. To me, that transition is the emotional climax of the song. So getting that transition down is key, major props there.
The only thing I suggest working on is the end of that section (last 2 bars). It sounds like you added a couple extra beats, so go back and tidy that up. But overall, that was killer!
en_joy – Here’s a video with my tips for you.
smudge – Here’s a video to help you out with timing. In the video, I talk a lot about counting rhythms. Check out our reading course, as it will lay down the foundation for approaching practicing this way.
jinajupiter – Rickey’s right, that was awesome! Great understanding of the rhythm/timing. Love that you tapped along. 🙂 Keep up the excellent work!

AndrewKeymaster@annefgodfrey – sounds great! I’d slow down the tempo and focus on connecting the entire A melody, no pauses or hesitations. Then when you get comfortable at a slower speed, increase by 5 or 10 bpm.
AndrewKeymasterFrom what I can tell, he has relative pitch. He’s an amazing player and it’s super cool to see him tackle one of Evan’s tunes 🙂
AndrewKeymasterHi Alex! That’s awesome you started with Berny 🙂 She rocks!
So GoT is a bit of a toughie, check out our guide for some tips on where to start if you feel that one is a bit too advanced. And I’m always around if you need help on the lessons or have ?’s.
AndrewKeymasterHi Robin, I added you on the list. I’ll be sending out the one for this week’s new lesson in an hour or so. 🙂
AndrewKeymasterHere is a video if you need extra help with it.
AndrewKeymasterAwesome! Have fun playing it at the beach 🙂

AndrewKeymastermheiden – Here is my feedback for you 🙂
annefgodfrey – Anne, that was so beautiful. It was an honor to listen to you perform it. 🙂 The only feedback I can offer is to continue working on the second half of the tune. But again, awesome job! I’ve been looking forward to listening to your rendition.
AndrewKeymasterWelcome, Steffi! Start here. I’m always around if you need help or have ?’s on the lessons 🙂
AndrewKeymasterHi Becky, check out this lesson.

AndrewKeymasterlisadmh – That was excellent, Lisa! I can tell you put a lot of work into it 🙂 Here’s my suggestion for you. Play along with Matt. Slow the tab player to 65 or 70% and take an 8 bar section. Try to match his feel. So your goal is to get a little bit more of a relaxed feel.
Heads up for next month’s live lesson. I spoke with Matt yesterday and I asked him to make next month’s topic, “playing with finesse”. This is going to be a great one for everyone to check out because the focal point is: Not only playing the correct notes, but instead, focusing on how you play them.
