becky7777ParticipantYour “Number 9” uke has a Beatles song btw. I’ll spare you slapping up a video link 😁 I’m sure that’s probably the first thing you thought of… Or maybe it’s just me LOL!
Aww I want a deco for my uke headstock now. Your strap is cool 👍
becky7777ParticipantCongratulations miz!!!!
Feng E has a moonbird too, he loves it!
She’s a pretty ukulele! You NEED to post a challenge or even just mary had a little lamb for god sakes so we can hear it at some point!! 😉

becky7777ParticipantThat was awesome deadbuggy. Please tell me you didn’t learn that in a few hours though! 😂 I feel inadequate enough as it is memorizing stuff LOL! It was beautiful weather in IL too today. The frogs are out full force right now. The Harleys all came out of winter hibernation at 9am like everyone set their clocks to it. I’d say it was the real first day of Spring lol.
I found out it’s Earth Day too btw. Happy Earth Day everyone!
We can all honor our instruments and take a moment to thank the trees that have a new life and voice in our hands.

becky7777ParticipantSoraya –
If you can find a luthier that works on guitars, they can probably lower the action on your ukulele correctly so you don’t hurt your fingers.
If you ask a shop that sells guitars they might help you find a luthier locally too.

becky7777ParticipantDeadbuggy your uke is so cute and tiny lol. Jakeypoo is the only other person i’ve seen/heard playing one here. 🙂
becky7777ParticipantRobins thank you. 💖 And yes it makes sense. It’s just one of those things that’s been driving me up the wall. It takes things a while to click in my head, till then I over complicate things.
And Ricky – I got used to seeing a LOT of abrevs. They used to irritate me but if you spend time in online multiplayer games you are forced to learn common ones of the moment LOL! Don’t know what yours is but my mind can’t let go of MF in it… Which can’t be typed lol

becky7777ParticipantI agree Ricky. I can’t really palm mute without major gymnastics happening so I was experimenting with ways to un-stick my fingers, especially if i’ve been holding something fretted for a long while. Super helpful!! I couldn’t find these feedbacks on youtube. It’s great they can be bookmarked from here.
Working on timing more this month too and this time i’m NOT going to “take it and mak…change the song freaking completely.” (I think it was you, I was talking about that with?..) 😉 To be honest, i’m going to need to murder the arrangement of Dream, a little bit… because it’s fun, and I feel bad about losing the crazy challenging bit for me, from low G whipping the dodge ball at that E7 chord. Poor E7 never had a chance…

becky7777ParticipantButtery tone lol! got to love food descriptors!!! Yummy! 😁 I want a “Paula Deen” buttery tone so I can dip Rock Lobster in it! (Someone HAD to say it. C’mon lol!!)
Live Stream Question –
If it isn’t covered somehow, tips for a nice sounding clean pull-off when you have a hard noisy callus that makes the sound brighter then what you’re playing around it, would be appreciated.
———–
If there’s lots of time at the end, any additional tips for building strength for bends would be nice, but off topic.
I can barely wiggle out emaciated virtical vibrato, let alone bending a string up a half step.

becky7777ParticipantI did find a solution to keep it pretty sounding and simple on low G. (Robin was faster! LOL)
I couldn’t keep the backwards strum, I tried. It’s REALLY hard to add that note and keep it sounding like a strum by plucking or for-real strumming, or a combination. (I couldn’t do it anyway)
Yeah Robin nailed it. His sounds better then just the melody note, but either one works and keeps the song really pretty sounding in low G. (If anyone’s determined.)
I came up with just the melody note on the E string on fret 4, and it still sounds really nice.
Bar 5 is just, E string third fret instead of open on the G string.
becky7777ParticipantLOL Ricky!! No meds. 😂 If I had good enough meds to let me ignore my shoulders, I’d probably just vegitate and arpeggiate a C chord for 3 hours, and not worry about it, or probably much else but the pretty C chord.
However I’ve been trying to get ‘dynamics’ since I literally started, which I WAS mostly wrong on, so i’m trying to get this straight. I wiki-ed then went other places and everything is different. Rather then waste more months, thought I should ask.
Apparently I REALLY SUCK at explaining things, which I’m aware of, but I really tried to be SUPER clear on what I was asking up there… Thought I was clear anyway… Even left it open for a simple yes or no unless im way off base, then yes I deserve to be shot because it’s not an easy yes/no answer. Hoping I finally got it though.. It’s hard to work on something if you are working the wrong stuff.

becky7777ParticipantJust started on Dream A Little Dream. I have a busy April and there’s only a VERY slim chance I could finish Thousand Years, the other song choices eventually had something I don’t think I could do at all yet. Big difficulty jump is an understatement lol. Turns out Dream has a challenge too for low G…
Shankar–
Trying to find a solution to the melody note on the E7 backwards strum thing in Bar 4 that falls on the low G because yes, it sounds really “off” to me too.
Bar 5 is all open so it’s easy to sub in a high g note.
I kind of hit the breaks at 4, but it doesn’t look like there will be a lot of really weird sounding spots that are like bar 4. If I figure something out I’ll post.
becky7777ParticipantNice work on Something lynda!! The pub enjoyed it too! Pretty magical stuff when you get good people and good musicians together!
My friend decided to play guitar during one a long while back. He played Where Have All the Flowers Gone and Seasons in the Sun the entire place was singing along. I think that night made a bigger impression on me the it did him, but it was a very cool thing.

becky7777ParticipantCongratulations erino7!!!!!! 💖
Thank you for the feedback Andrew.
Seriously kind of funny though, I literally said to myself this month “I’m NOT worrying about trying to count, or a metronome. I got this.” -Pretty sure I rationalized it as the song being about feel, not timing. The second I started Rose. ROFL!!! – Busted!
I will totally try working on timing. Sadly was/am blind I was far off base. Counting while playing uke is NOT a thing I do well. I used a metronome as a crutch to count the rhythm for me for a long time. Aka majority of the song is 8th notes, metronome would be set to 8th notes so I didn’t have to 1&2&.. and could just play on its beat.
It didn’t help I totally changed the song either for weeks. I realized the error of THAT, but too late. “Take it and make it your own.” Doesn’t mean make it a totally different song every time I play it. After I memorized it, it got out of hand. (But it was fun. Not going to deny that.)

becky7777ParticipantFinally caught up on submissions, too many to comment on singularly though but I loved them all! Blown away by quite a few people.
santai – Welcome!!!! I jumped right in on challenges when I joined too! I had 2 weeks though on a much shorter, and probably much simpler song. Can’t wait to hear what you do in April’s challenge if you join in!
(If we have one. I hope Andrew’s ok…)
