I think the Airbender Medley is gorgeous. I work long hours at my new job, so practice was limited.
Made the recording on the last day finally! Thank you. Looking forward to next months challenge too!!
I did notice quality of strums make a difference in this piece. Good placement is crucial.

Well, I chose “Haunted Uke”. I like the melody, and the somber effect.

Okay, here is my first real live ‘DUET’ for “Harmonizing Chords”. Not only was this a great lesson, it also provided a great time learning to play along with someone else.

Be sure to watch our “out-takes” as we tried to record a decent submission for you. You will see just how these lessons allow us to enjoy the journey! Special thanks to Adam Ousley, of Ousley Music for helping me out with this June challenge.

I stumbled a bit, but I had this memorized. I took Andrew’s invitation to add some poetic license. This challenge was perfect for me. As an intermediate player, I tend to fall back to the Island Strum for many songs, but having some variations has opened up a new world now. I have used some of these rhythms to other songs too.

    Thank you Rockclass 101!

    FINGERPICKING ETUDE (NO 1)
    April 2023 Challenge

I almost have it memorized. Playing on my ‘least favorite’- and cheap Luna uke- this is its debut recording! I do admit, I like the bright Zebrawood sound for this piece (better than I had thought it would be).

I plan to continue on this etude and making it faster (and memorized completely) Thank you Andrew & Company.

I had the ‘chop’ part of the song memorized but after the melodic measures, I need more practice. I love the song offering, after all who doesn’t like Chop Sticks right? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE CHANCE TO LEARN AND GROW IN MY MUSIC. Blessings to you and yours for Andrew and team. Good Luck tomorrow! Finger’s crossed I WILL be joining your live stream to find out who the lucky winner is of the Kanile’a, my internet’s been dodgy, we are in a winter-storm here in Northern Indiana.

Okay, NOT my best, but I did memorize this time. The osteoarthritis makes electric shocks in my fingers (and spine) but hey, it is the uke that counts here! I could not get a bar-cord due to swelling. Nonetheless, I made it work! A buzzing string and a few timing issues, but I LOVE the song! Thank you. (I can still play Blackbird, and better than before) The bar-cords hurt if I’m in a flair up. Love the challenges, and it’s really been a big help in my intermediate level play : )

Admittedly, being only my 2nd fingerstyle, I worked on this mornings and (during lunch break at work) and at night. I probably should have tried the beginner song. After 93 ‘takes’ once I hit the ‘record’ button, I finally settled on one I at least got through entire song. That said, this challenge took my playing to the next level, thank you. I’ll get better at it, and I will enjoy continuing to improve this song : )
    Thank you.

I’m a new PREMIUM MEMBER! First ever fingerstyle and participation! Theme 2- timing…. looking forward to smoothing it out, and participating in other challenges : ) Neck surgery, tingling weak left side, to fingers, so I have to make accommodation in placement.
