planetfinkParticipantHere’s my collection (definitely a bit of UAS). Baritone, low G tenor, high G tenor, super concert (concert body, tenor neck) and two sopranos. The last one is for my grandkids. And the other soprano I won at a ukulele camp.

planetfinkParticipantThanks Stephen for your nice comments. Those slides in the Imperial March are really tough. After a lot of work on them I still am averaging about 50% success rate.

Some stumbles, but the cleanest version I’ve gotten so far. I added in part of Andrew’s Cantina Song, so that the medley is a greatest hits of the most recognizable themes from Star Wars. It was really fun and super challenging to do.
planetfinkParticipantHere is a rough version of what is sounds like. A lot of missed notes, but I think you can get the idea of how the Cantina Song can fit into the medley, and those of you with better ukulele chops can make it sound smoother. I would love to see your versions.

planetfinkParticipantThanks, Andrew. The “new” uke is the Kamaka I got in February. But it still is my new uke. The recording is from two months ago but I still struggle with strumming lighter with my thumb. I keep working on it.

planetfinkParticipantThis is a recording I did two months ago. I don’t want to think of this as my “official” entry, I am working on the Star Wars Medley, but it showed off my new ukulele so well. Great arrangement. I love the melody.
planetfinkParticipantRickey, that was beautiful. I’m sitting here crying listening to it. Great job.
planetfinkParticipantIf you want to try this, I have short demo of how I am getting into and out of the Cantina Song. I put it between the main theme and the Imperial March. I played the transitions slowly with a metronome so you can see how the rhythm works. I started on measure 12 of main theme. I played the eight notes straight, but in the actual song they are swung. The Cantina song is in cut time so you can keep the same tempo with half notes as one beat instead of the quarter notes. The chord going in is the Dm from Cantina song replacing the Ddim7. Coming out of the Cantina song I play the F, followed by Ddim7 (on first and second frets), leading into measure 14, start of the Imperial March.

planetfinkParticipantThis isn’t an entry. Just did it for fun. I had been playing it on my Kamaka, but sitting in the backyard with my soprano seemed appropriate for the song. Happy summer to all the northern hemisphere folks.
planetfinkParticipantI’m still working on it. I think it will sound good, but I’m not there yet.

planetfinkParticipantRickey, that was awesome. Loved the singing, the kazoo and also nice shirt 👍🏼

planetfinkParticipant@lildevil I did notice. While I was watching I was thinking how cool it was that your shirt matched your strap. Oh, and I loved your playing too. 😀

planetfinkParticipantThanks Andrew. I rewatched it and saw what I was doing in the triplets. I didn’t notice it before. I had been doing them correctly when learning it. I do them Matt’s way, DDU. I think when I got more comfortable with the piece overall I got sloppy. Something to watch out for.

planetfinkParticipantThanks for the kind words. I hope my performance is a help to you, @rickeymike. Looking forward to hearing your take on it.

This is a little embarrassing. I actually wasn’t planning on posting yet, but once I get a song memorized I do a recording or two during practice, just to see where I am at. I liked how this one came out. I tried “mouth kazoo” for the first time (the embarrassing part) but it was fun and silly. Note to Andrew: please don’t use this one on social media. I don’t mind looking foolish in front of this lovely, supportive community but I prefer to keep it here.
