isabelmParticipantCongrats @junkourata!! That’s amazing to hear how much money was raised for the UKC too!
Thanks Andrew for the wonderful tutorial for the Christmas Song! This was definitely a challenging piece to learn. Hope you all had a merry Christmas and happy holidays!
isabelmParticipantAgreed, more female teachers would be awesome.
Another suggestion, I don’t know how many people play baritone ukulele but it would neat to learn a Fingerstyle arrangement of a song for bari uke.
Or another course on duets. My parents and sister play uke also and enjoy learning arrangements together.
All RC101 content is amazing, and I feel like I’ve grown so much as a uke player specifically because of the techniques taught on this site. Thanks RC101 team!!

isabelmParticipantHere’s my submission for Yankee Doodle. Those tap harmonica at the end are tough, so I tried it a few times before getting it lol. Also working on the Entertainer.

Started learning Bodysurfing yesterday and I’m proud of my progress. This is my first time attempting an advanced song, and I definitely plan on learning the whole arrangement when I have more time. Works been very busy since COVID-19 started.

isabelmParticipantReally enjoying watching everyone’s submissions!!! I finally had time to practice this piece enough to memorize it! Here’s “Greensleeves,” recorded with my new Rode video micro, a very cool and portable mic that plugs into my phone.

isabelmParticipant@annefgodfrey Playing ukulele has helped me through some really tough times too. That’s wonderful you donated in memory of your husband.
I have a neurological disease so playing the uke has been helping me to improve my memory, and takes my mind off hospital visits, tests, etc. As of April I can also say I’m a cancer survivor, and music has helped me so much. I know that having a uke for these kids means the world to them, and they can just enjoy being kids instead of patients. Thank you Andrew for creating these monthly challenges, and donating to UKC for entries this month.
Yesterday my dog Mia passed away unexpectedly. She was always by my side when I played ukulele and guitar, so I made a donation to the UKC in memory of her.
Also, I ordered low g strings and they arrive tomorrow! Look forward to learning Greensleeves.

isabelmParticipantThis is definitely a late entry so I understand it doesn’t count. Posting so I can track my progress. This month flew by, so for next month I will learn the piece earlier, and it will sound more fluid. I’m really enjoying these monthly challenges!

isabelmParticipantHere’s part of the “Sound of Silence” that I’ve been practicing. I decided to play it on my soprano uke because it’s red like the ruby slippers (although it’s trickier, so there’s some chords that buzz instead of ringing out). Happy Halloween from Dorothy and Toto (aka Mia)!
October 4, 2019 at 4:23 am in reply to: Participate in the September 2019 Member Challenge – Next Level Strumming! #31105
isabelmParticipantCongrats Brett! Enjoy your new uke!
Thanks for the feedback Andrew! I practiced beat 1 and totally forgot about beat 2. Thanks for linking the video too about chord changes. Adding that open strum in between makes it easier to get a smoother transition.
Thanks Jina! My dog Mia is the sweetest. Sometimes she even paws at my hand when I’m strumming to get my attention.

isabelmParticipantI’ve been learning songs/techniques for a while, and decided to finally participate in a member challenge. So here’s my first entry! Everyone’s been doing such a great job and it’s fun to follow along and see everyone’s take. This was definitely a mental challenge with trying to coordinate the chords and rhythms.
