LeslieThank you for the feedback Andrew. I will practice two bars at a time as well as using the online player to increase speed. It will also help that I am familiar with the songs you chose for this month’s challenge. Thank you for organizing this!

This month I worked on Aura Lee. The other song choices are a lot of fun and after I become proficient with bar chords I plan on learning them as well. Slow and steady…

“In the Hall of the Mountain King” is a favorite. My youngest son’s kindergarten teacher used this as the background music for his class performance some 30 years ago. To this day when I hear the melody I picture 25 little people in lightning bug costumes tiptoeing around a stage as proud parents Video taped the performance. Thank you for this fun piece.

Last month Andrew asked if I was reading the music for the first half of the song. He was correct. I was suing the sheet music as a crutch. Sooo this month I didn’t have the sheet music in the same room and could not refer to it. Who said an old dog couldn’t learn new tricks! Thank you for the recommendation and help.

Well, while I wanted to post my rendition of “Wouldn’t It Be Nice”, it just isn’t nice enough to share. I enjoyed trying both the 12 bar blues and the “nice” song. These challenges are both fun and motivating. Keeps me focused. I did better at the blues, so…drum roll please…

LeslieRockClass101 has amazing instructors as well as great fellow participants. I enjoyed taking Christopher’s strumming class and can now do very sssslllloooowwww claw, fan, and tripelet strums. What I couldn’t do was learn the song Five Foot Two well enough to both play from memory or even have someone recognize the tune. I switched to Matt’s lesson on Dream a Little Dream of Me. Matt did a wonderful job, I’m currently a slow student. I was able to take Andrew’s advice from last month and performed the song from memory. Proud that I didn’t look at the sheet music at all. I tried submitting earlier, but it wasn’t showing up. My apologies if this ends up being a second post.
