Hi Uke Lovers! I really enjoyed learning “4 Spooky Melodies” last year and I really really really like doing it again this year with 4 More Spooky Melodies! Here’s my entry:
@shmu88 and I teamed up this month to take on the Bodysurfing Duet 🙂

I’m really happy with how our duet turned out. It’s not perfect but given that we’re both amateur musicians using our phones and iMovie and living in two different countries, I’d say it’s Pretty Incredible!
Compare this video my to April 18th 2020 video, when I first took on this same song. In that video I play it a little slower and most of the video is slightly out of sync. I think today’s is much better.
Big Thanks to Sam for requesting to do this duet. Getting better at this tune is definitely a goal of mine 🙂

Thanks for thinking of me 🙂 I learned bodysurfing for the April 2020 member challenge. But that video was a bit rough. The two parts are out of sync by just a fraction of a second and the recording quality is weak. here’s that video:
But I’ve been slowly getting better at this kind of stuff and I have a good mic now. So how about you watch that video and then email me [blackdragontea at gmail dot com] and we can talk about a duet 🙂 I’m totally down!
I’ve been learning in the summertime this month but I’m almost read on that one.

I had a great time learning A Fifth of Beethoven this month. Such a cool arrangement!
Thank you Evan J De Silva and Andrew.Hi Uke Friends, Here’s my video for “The Explorer.” I play it on my Rogu(e) Baritone and my Luna concert with low G. Also, my kitty Chouquette joins me at the end for an impromptu sing-a-long!
Measure 8 & 16 were really tricky IMO but eventually I managed to get them sounding decent. Also, I gave up trying to play measure 23 as written. Those double stops on beat 2 and 3 that use 4th fret G string were changed to 2nd fret G sting to work with my playing style. The melody notes on the B string are the same so it sounds similar. (I tried to use my thumb for a while but I just didn’t like it.)
All in all this song is Totally Awesome and a great challenge. Thanks Andrew!

Thanks Stephen. To answer your question the change was not intentional. I usually watch the RC video once for a shorter piece like this one and I carry around a copy of the printed music and practice here and there. So my it often evolves slightly away from the source material 🙂
