    Broken left fingers keeping me from playing this month, but enjoying watching everyone’s submissions. Can’t wait to be able to play again.

    @andrew
    I made a $20 donation to the ukulele kids club.
    I had hoped to practice a few more days to try to improve this, but holiday prep and work are time consuming so here it is. I hope that in the future I will get to a place where I feel I am performing instead of just playing and just getting through it (though I am having a lot of fun).This was a difficult piece. I practices both strumming the beginning and plucking. Actually like the sound of strumming best, but did not get an acceptable recording of that. I tried Stephens technique of muting with my index finger but could not do it. Ended up muting with my thumb over the to of the neck or plucking. Such a fun way to end the year. Look forward to all the wonderful lessons in the coming year. All of rockclass101 teachers are fabulous! Happy holidays to all.

    Loving everyone’s posts. I’m going to be a last minute poster the month. This nutcracker medley is fun but difficult. Everyone is doing so well that I am fearing my performance will be a disappointment. A few more days to practice.

    Hello and welcome to the group. I think you find the instructors here are fabulous and the opportunities to learn are boundless. In addition, other participants are also so supportive. The monthly challenges are such a great way to get feedback that helps you to learn and move forward… Hope you enjoy as much as i have.

    @andrew thanks for the feedback and for pointing out the lesson on increasing my reach.. I have already looked at it and it will definitely become a part of my warm up for practice. I see this not only helping me with stretch but also with strengthening my pinky finger, which is weak. especially on the G and C strings. Thanks again for all of the wonderful lessons and helpful comments. You are an excellent teacher.

    I struggle with stretches. Because animal crossing theme brings me wonderful memories of playing this with my daughter during the beginning of the pandemic, I thought I would give it a try. Hoped it would help me build stretching ability. Don’t know how long that really takes, as you will see, I still struggled with the stretches. On a positive I see that I am improving on my tendency to pull on the strings. Only one bad pull on this. Have to take the good and the bad.

    Given my age, I am sure that most would be shocked at the fact that I have played both Zelda and Animal Crossing New Horizon. I began playing animal crossing with my daughter (me Southern Hemisphere and her northern so that we could visit and trade items) at the same time I started ukulele. At that time I tried to learn the song but found it too difficult for my very beginner skills. So, I am attempting it again, in the hopes that my skills have improved enough to handle it. Still finding it a challenge. It is deceptively difficult. The stretches are the most difficult task for me right now, but hoping I will have it all together by the end of the month.

    thank you @andrew. I think you really captured the sounds of Halloween with these melodies. I only hit that harmonic about 50% of the time. Stopped and restarted my recordings several times at that point and finally decide to just play through. I usually try to record when the house is empty; thus, being the only one in the house, Sophie, my dog is typically near me when I record. Most of the time nearby making chaos and distracting me (she is still young at a little over a year). This time she was actually pretty calm. Happy Halloween to all!!!!!!

    ,I know it does not look like I am having fun in this video, but I really loved these melodies for Halloween and have had a blast learning them. I had accidentally deleted the video I wanted to keep, then got frustrated. Missed the harmonic but kept going .
    Here is my October submission without the harmonic

    Wow! Everyone sounds so wonderful. I think the @andrew written spooky melodies are so fun for Halloween season. Thus, I have chosen 4 spooky melodies. Thought I was coming along really well, but actually watched the lesson today. From the lesson I learned that I should be using alternating middle and pointer finger for triplet and picatto. So having to take a step back and work on these. Sometimes it is not just about playing a song, but also learning a particular technique. Hope I am able to ‘undo’ what I’ve been doing (single finger picking) and add proper technique in time to post this month.

    @smokealot is this issue permanent or do you expect to heal. I hope you will eventually heal and that you are simply trying to continue as it heals. But if not and you are looking for a permanent alternative, have you thought about switching to a left hand ukulele. It may be easier to adapt strumming and picking with fewer working fingers than making chords with fewer fingers.

    nice @surferjay. it sounds like you accomplished your goals. My timing is about the same as yours. Should be coming up to my 2 year anniversary around christmas. (initially actually was gifted a ukulele from my daughter in october but there were issues with it and it had to be sent back so really did not start until december giving me a christmas anniversary). I love the fingerpicking and tend to gravitate to those vs. strumming songs, so I need to work on strumming in the coming year. Also, I need to improve on my left hand technique. I tend to tug on the strings which can cause the notes to be out of tune. I have been working on that and have improved somewhat, but it still is an issue i need to work on… Good luck on your goals for the coming year

    I did not post for September. Worked on ‘In the Summertime’, but was not pleased with how I did higher on the fret board. I loved listening to everyone else’s performances. Congrats to @Leb397
